IP Connectivity
The management guests on the R1 and R2 SRDF/Metro managed arrays maintain
multiple IP connections to redundant vWitness virtual appliances. The IP connections
use TLS/SSL to ensure secure connectivity between vWitness instances and the
arrays.
Once you have established IP connectivity to the arrays, you can use the Solutions
Enabler or Unisphere for VMAX to perform the following:
l
Add a new vWitness to the configuration. This will not affect any existing
vWitnesses. Once the vWitness is added, it is enabled for participation in the
vWitness infrastructure.
l
Query the state of a vWitness configuration.
l
Suspend a vWitness. If the vWitness is currently servicing an SRDF/Metro
session, this operation requires a force flag. This puts the SRDF/Metro session in
an unprotected state until it renegotiates with another witness, if available.
l
Remove a vWitness from the configuration. Once removed, SRDF/Metro will
break the connection with vWitness. You can only remove vWitnesses that are not
currently servicing active SRDF/Metro sessions.
