Completing the Installation
CompletingtheDFEmoduleinstallationdependsonifthemoduleisbeinginstalledin:

•anestablished,operatingDFEmodulesystem(referto“CompletingtheInstallationofa

ExistingSystem”onpage 3‐19).
Completing the Installation of a New System
InanewsystemofDFEmodules,oneoftheinstalledDFEmoduleswillbecomethemanagement
moduleonchassispowerup,andallDFEmoduleswillautomaticallybesettothefactorydefault
values.AcompletelistofthefactorydefaultvaluesareprovidedinChapter3oftheEnterasys
MatrixDFE‐PlatinumSeriesConfigurationGuide.
AfterinstallingallDFE‐Platinummodulesintothehostchassisandmakingtheconnectionstothe
network,proceedtothefollowingFirst‐TimeLog‐InUsingaConsolePortConnectionprocedure
toaccessthemodulemanagementstartupscreenfromyourPC,terminal,ormodem
connection.

Note: This procedure applies only to initial log-in, and to logging in to a device not yet configured
with administratively-supplied user and password settings.
By default, the Matrix DFE Series device is configured with three user login accounts: ro for Read-
Only access; rw for Read-Write access; and admin for super-user access to all modifiable
parameters. The default password is set to blank (press Enter). For information on changing these
