This document provides a quick start guide and safety information for the E1 device, an entertainment and smart home hub by Ericsson.
The E1 device serves as a central hub for entertainment and smart home functionalities. It connects to your TV via an HDMI cable, allowing you to access various applications and content. The device can also function as a wireless access point if you have the router model, enabling other Wi-Fi devices to connect through it. It supports voice control, allowing for hands-free interaction with the device. The E1 device is designed for indoor use and is intended to be supplied by a certified USB Type-C AC power adapter.
Usage Features:
Initial Setup:
- Unpacking: The E1 device comes with a remote, USB-C power supply, power cable, HDMI cable, USB-C to USB-A adapter, and a Micro-USB cable.

Charging:
- Remote: If the remote is unresponsive, it may need charging. Connect the Micro-USB cable to the remote, then connect the Micro-USB cable to the USB-C to USB-A adapter, and finally connect the USB-C adapter to a USB-C port on the E1 device. Alternatively, the Micro-USB cable can be plugged directly into any 5-Volt USB outlet. A red LED on the remote indicates charging.
- Game Controller (Not Included): To charge a game controller, connect a Micro-USB cable to the controller, then to the USB-C to USB-A adapter, and finally to a USB-C port on the E1 device. The Micro-USB cable can also be plugged directly into any 5-Volt USB outlet.
Troubleshooting:
- "No Input" on TV: If your TV displays "no input," ensure your TV is set to the correct HDMI input/source that matches the port where the E1 device is connected. Use your TV remote's "input" or "source" button to select the correct HDMI connection.
- Mouse Cursor on Screen: If a mouse cursor moves freely, the remote is in "mouse mode." The blue LED on the remote will be lit. Press the mouse button on the remote to toggle mouse mode on/off.
- Pairing Remote: The remote is pre-paired. If the blue LED flashes slowly, pairing has been lost. To re-pair:
- Turn off the E1 device and unplug its power.
- Simultaneously press the Volume + and - buttons on the remote until the blue LED flashes rapidly.
- Plug in and power up the E1 device.
- Hold the remote approximately 10 cm from the device during the pairing process.
- Once paired, the blue LED will stop flashing and light up solid blue.
Safety Guidelines:
- Ventilation: Keep the upper vents clear and open to prevent overheating. Do not cover or place objects on top of the device.
- Water Exposure: Do not use the E1 device near water or in wet environments like bathtubs or swimming pools.
- Electrical Storms: Avoid using the E1 device during an electrical storm due to the remote risk of electric shock from lightning.
- Air Ventilation: Do not block air ventilation holes.
- Hot Parts: The bottom metal parts can become hot. Wait 20 minutes after switching off the E1 device before handling parts to avoid burns.
- Children's Use: Children should not use the E1 device without adult supervision. Parents should inspect the device and accessories for damage and instruct children on safe use. The device contains small parts that can be a choking hazard for children 12 and under.
- Gameplay Precautions: Gameplay may involve movement. Ensure sufficient clear space to move freely, looking in all directions for obstacles. Keep play space away from windows, walls, and stairs. Be aware of children and pets. Maintain distance from other players, bystanders, and pets. Ensure good footing on a level floor with adequate traction, and wear appropriate footwear.
- Overexertion: Consult a doctor before using the E1 device if you have medical conditions, are pregnant, have high blood pressure, or have been advised to restrict physical activity. Do not play under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Ensure adequate balance and physical abilities for gaming movements.
- Breaks: Take periodic breaks. Stop and rest if muscles, joints, or eyes become tired or sore. Consult a doctor if you experience excessive fatigue, nausea, shortness of breath, chest tightness, dizziness, discomfort, or pain.
- Photosensitive Seizures: A small percentage of people may experience seizures from flashing lights or patterns in video games. Stop playing immediately and consult a doctor if you experience symptoms like lightheadedness, altered vision, or jerking. Reduce risk by sitting farther from the TV, using a smaller screen, playing in a well-lit room, and avoiding play when drowsy or fatigued. Consult a doctor if you or relatives have a history of seizures or epilepsy.
- Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs): Use of game controllers or other electronic input devices may be linked to MSDs. If you experience persistent discomfort, pain, throbbing, aching, tingling, numbness, burning sensation, or stiffness, seek a qualified health professional promptly.
Maintenance Features:
- Visual Inspections: Periodically inspect the E1 device for any obvious damage.
- Cleaning: Clean the E1 device only with a dry cloth.
- Power Supply Disconnection: Disconnect the E1 device from the electrical supply and contact your service provider if:
- It fails to function as expected.
- There are noticeable signs of overheating.
- Signs of insulation deterioration on electrical conductors are present.
- The power cable or connector is damaged.
- Liquid has been spilled onto or an object has fallen into the device.
- The device has been exposed to water or other abnormal contamination.
- Power Supply Care: The power supply is for indoor use only and should be connected to a socket-outlet with earthing connection. Only use the power supply included with the E1 device. Do not attempt to repair or use a damaged power supply. Do not immerse the power supply in water or subject it to physical abuse.
- Battery: The E1 device contains an internal, rechargeable battery that is not replaceable. Do not attempt to replace it, as incorrect replacement may increase the risk of fire or chemical burns. Do not disassemble, damage, modify, or expose batteries to conducting materials, moisture, liquid, or heat. Discard batteries according to local laws, typically in a waste bin for electronic devices. Keep batteries away from children.
- Cables and Cords: Organize cables and cords neatly to reduce tripping and entanglement hazards, especially in areas where children or pets might play. Do not pull on the power cable to disconnect the E1 device, as this can damage it. Avoid bending, pinching, or knotting the power cable, or exposing it to heat. Unplug the E1 device during lightning storms or extended periods of disuse. Stop using a damaged power cable immediately.
