How to troubleshoot TIG welding problems with my ESAB EMP 235ic?
    • N
      nathan11Aug 2, 2025
To troubleshoot TIG welding problems with your ESAB Inverter, make sure the TIG torch is connected to the negative welding terminal and the welding ground cable to the positive welding terminal. Use 100% Argon gas. Ensure the regulator/flow meter is connected to the gas bottle and the gas pipe for the TIG torch is connected to the gas outlet connector on the front of the power source. The work clamp should have proper contact with the work piece. Open the gas bottle and check the gas flow rate on the regulator/flow meter, which should be between 4.72–11.80 l/min (1.25–3.12 gpm). Ensure the power source is on and TIG welding is selected. All connections should be tight and leak-free.

How to fix porosity in ESAB EMP 235ic Inverter weld metal?
    • C
      Christian PotterAug 8, 2025
To address porosity in your ESAB Inverter weld metal, start by checking that the gas bottle is not empty and the gas regulator is not closed. Inspect the gas inlet hose for leaks or blockages. Ensure the correct gas is connected and the appropriate gas flow is used. Keep the distance between the MIG torch nozzle and the work piece to a minimum. Avoid working in areas with drafts. Clean the work piece to remove any oil or grease before welding.

How to troubleshoot wire feeding problems with my ESAB EMP 235ic?
    • H
      Heather ThomasAug 13, 2025
If your ESAB Inverter is experiencing wire feeding problems, check the following: Ensure the wire spool brake is adjusted correctly. Verify the feed roller is the correct size and not worn. Set the correct pressure on the feed rollers. Ensure the proper direction of motion is set based on the wire type (into the weld pool for aluminum, away from the weld pool for steel). Use the correct contact tip, ensuring it's not worn. Confirm the liner is the right size and type for the wire and is not bent, causing friction.

What to do if my ESAB EMP 235ic has no power or no arc?
    • A
      Alexis CalhounAug 17, 2025
If your ESAB Inverter is not powering on or producing an arc, verify that the input power supply switch is turned on. Check the display for a temperature fault. Ensure the system breaker has not tripped. Confirm that the input power, welding, and return cables are correctly connected. Verify the correct current value is set and inspect the input power supply fuses.

      marc29Aug 22, 2025
If you're encountering MIG (GMAW/FCAW) welding problems with your ESAB Inverter, ensure the MIG torch is connected to the correct polarity. If the contact tip has arc marks, replace it to prevent excessive drag on the wire. Verify you are using the correct shielding gas, gas flow, voltage, welding current, travel speed, and MIG torch angle. Also, confirm that the work lead has proper contact with the work piece.

Why does the overheating protection trip frequently on my ESAB Inverter?
    • C
      Christopher JordanAug 28, 2025
If the overheating protection trips frequently on your ESAB Inverter, make sure you are not exceeding the recommended duty cycle for the weld current you are using. Also, ensure that the air inlets or outlets are not clogged.
