3.1.3.2 Motor temperature
A temperature input (TSD: Temperature Sensor Digital) is present on the DSC2P to protect the motor against
overheating.
Warning: If the insulation (SELV) of the temperature sensor (TSD) does not comply with
the EN 50178 standard, an extra insulation protection must be added between the
controller and the PTC.
Motor over temperature protection (TSD)
If a motor must be protected against overheating, ETEL includes an optional PTC resistor (Positive
Temperature Coefficient) inside its windings. If the user has asked for this option, the temperature protection
must be connected as shown below:
Remark: The diagram above shows the connection of a Positive Temperature Coefficient sensor (PTC). A
'normally closed' thermostat can also be connected to the TSD input. Here is the PTC sensor
characteristics used by ETEL.
