Error Cause Remedy
No welding current
Mains switch is ON, indicator for
selected operating mode is lit up,
malfunction indicator flashes
Fault in power module
Poor ignition characteristics in rod-
electrode welding
Wrong welding process selected
Arc sometimes breaks during
welding
Mains fuse and/or safety cut-out has
tripped
Mains fuse too weak; incorrect safety
cut-out
Poor welding properties (heavy
spattering)
Incorrect electrode polarity
TIG welding
Tungsten electrode melts off; tungsten
inclusions in the base metal during
ignition
Switch machine off and back on again;
if the error keeps on occurring - send
machine in for service
Select the welding process "Rod-
electrode welding" or "Rod-electrode
welding with CEL-electrode"
Insert correct fuse (see technical data)
Reverse the polarity - follow the manu-
facturer´s instructions
Mains undervoltage
Arc-burning voltage of electrode too high
(e.g. grooved electrode)
Measure mains voltage on machine,
increase the cross-sectional area of the
supply lead
If possible, use different type of electrode
or a machine capable of delivering
greater welding current
Poor earth connection Fix earth clamp directly onto the work-
piece
Incorrect electrode polarity Connect TIG welding torch to "- pole"
Rod-electrode sometimes sticks "Arc-force" parameter (Rod-electrode
welding) or "Characteristic" parameter
(Rod-electrode welding with CEL-
electrode) is set to too low a value
In the set-up menu, set the "Arc-
force" parameter (or "Characteristic"
parameter) to a higher value
Unfavourable set-up settings for the
selected welding process
In the set-up menu, optimise the settings
for the selected welding process
Use inert shielding gas (argon)Wrong shielding gas, no shielding gas
No welding current
After the machine is switched on, all
indicators are permanently lit up
(longer than 2 seconds)
Short-circuit (secondary side) Stop the short-circuit (disconnect the
rod-electrode cable or earthing cable
from the current socket with the bayonet
latch. If the error keeps on occurring -
send machine in for service
Wrong welding process selected Select the "TIG welding" process
Select the "TIG welding" processWrong welding process selected
Loud bang
in some cases the mains fuse or auto-
matic circuit-breaker is tripped as well
Varistor (overvoltage protector) has been
tripped; mains voltage error
Replace the varistor - may only be done
by skilled, trained personnel - otherwise
send machine to After-Sales Service
Machine should be servicedMains fuse is tripped under no-load con-
ditions
