Drainage Systems
CAUTION
Notice:
See Electrical Systems for additional infor-
mation on bilge pump operation.
When the boat is out of the water the bilge can be
drained by a garboard drain located in the transom
near the bottom of the hull. The plug should be
removed whenever the boat is hauled out of the
water and installed just prior to launching. It is
important to check the drain plug regularly to
make sure it is tight.
A LOOSE DRAIN PLUG WILL ALLOW SEAWATER TO ENTER
THE bILGE AND COULD CAUSE THE bOAT TO SINk. IT IS VERY
IMPORTANT TO CHECk THE DRAIN PLUG FREQUENTLY TO
ENSURE IT IS PROPERLY TIGHTENED.
Important:
Any oil spilled in the bilge must be thoroughly
removed and properly disposed of before op-
erating the bilge pump. The discharge of oil
from the bilge is illegal and subject to a ne.

9.5 Fishboxes, Baitwell and
Storage Compartment Drains
Forward Fishbox
The forward shbox below the cockpit sole is
drained overboard by a pump out system located
in the head compartment bilge. The pump out
system is activated by the Fishbox switch in the
helm switch panel.
Monitor the water level as the pump drains the
shbox and turn it off immediately when draining
is complete. The pump could be damaged if it is
allowed to run dry for extended periods.
The shbox can also be drained by removing the
drain plug in the bottom of the shbox when the
boat is underway. A reverse scoop located below
the drain plug creates a vacuum at the drain tting
whenever the boat is operating at speeds above
15 mph that will quickly drain the shbox. Always
set the boat speed to at least 15 mph before re-
moving the drain plug and reinstall and tighten
the plug immediately when draining is complete.
The shbox hatch drain rail drains by gravity to a
thru-hull tting in the hull near the shbox pump.
The seacock valve on the thru-tting should be
open during normal operation.
Aft Fishbox (275/295 Models)
The aft shbox below the cockpit sole is drained
overboard by a pump out system located in the
systems compartment bilge. The pump out sys-
tem is activated by the Fishbox switch in the helm
switch panel.
