Overview

The Excalibur AL-1870-3DB is a remote start and security system designed to provide enhanced convenience and protection for vehicles. This system integrates various functions, including remote engine starting, security features, and auxiliary controls, all managed through a two-way or one-way transmitter.

Function Description:

The primary function of the AL-1870-3DB is to allow users to remotely start their vehicle's engine, pre-condition the interior, and secure the vehicle. It offers both a 2-way controller (model 1510-03E) with visual and audible feedback, and a 1-way transmitter (model 1415-03) for basic control. The system includes a comprehensive security suite with features like automatic arming, pre-warn detection, and various triggers for the siren/horn. Auxiliary functions extend its capabilities to control additional vehicle features, such as power sliding doors or motorized hatches, depending on vehicle integration.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Controller/Transmitter Models:
    • 2-Way Controller: 1510-03E (uses 2 CR2032 batteries)
    • 1-Way Transmitter: 1415-03 (uses 2 CR2016 batteries)
  • Battery Life: The 2-way controller features a power save mode that turns off the screen after 15 seconds of inactivity to conserve battery.
  • Remote Start Run Time: Programmable for 3, 10, 15, 20, or 30 minutes. The maximum amount of time the remote start will keep the engine running is set by this feature.
  • Engine Detection Method: Programmable for Progressive Voltage, Voltage, Tach Wire, Data Tach, or Crank Only. This feature ensures reliable engine starting by detecting when the engine is running.
  • Low Voltage & High/Low Temp Auto Start: The system can automatically start the engine if the vehicle battery drops below 11.5 volts or the interior temperature goes above or below a pre-programmed threshold.
  • Alarm Trigger Duration: Programmable for 30, 60, 90, or 120 seconds.
  • Starter Cranking Time: Programmable for 0.75, 1.00, 1.25, 1.50, 2.25, or 3.00 seconds, with an average setting.
  • Door Lock/Unlock Outputs: Programmable for 0.8 seconds, 3 seconds, double pulse unlock, or total closure lock output.
  • Turbo Timer: Programmable for 1, 2, or 3 minutes.
  • Manual Transmission Reservation Mode: Ensures the vehicle is in neutral before remote start.

Usage Features:

  • Lock/Arm: Pressing the LOCK button chirps the siren once and flashes the parking lights once. The controller shows the LOCK/ARM icon and beeps once.
  • Unlock/Disarm: Pressing the UNLOCK button chirps the siren twice and flashes the parking lights twice. The controller shows the UNLOCK/DISARM icon and beeps twice.
  • Remote Start: Pressing the START button twice within 5 seconds (programmable to 1 press via user feature #8) initiates remote start. Parking lights flash once, status light flashes rapidly, then slowly once the engine is running. The controller plays a melody, shows the remote start icon, and displays the remaining run time. The system attempts up to 3 restarts if the engine stalls.
  • Run Time Extender: During remote start, pressing the START button once restarts the engine run timer.
  • Trunk Release/Channel 2: Pressing the TRUNK button for 3 seconds opens the trunk. The system disarms and the controller shows "CH2" and beeps.
  • Channel 3, 4, 5: These auxiliary channels can be activated by specific button combinations (e.g., "P" then TRUNK for Channel 3, LOCK & TRUNK for Channel 4, UNLOCK & START for Channel 5). The controller confirms activation by showing "CH3," "CH4," or "CH5" on the display.
  • Silent Arm/Disarm: Pressing the TRUNK button twice within 5 seconds locks/unlocks and arms/disarms the system without siren chirps.
  • Sensor Bypass: Pressing the TRUNK button within 5 seconds of locking/arming the alarm system bypasses the sensor. The system chirps once and displays the sensor icon.
  • Low Voltage & High/Low Temp Auto Start: Pressing and releasing UNLOCK, LOCK, START within 5 seconds activates this feature. The system chirps once to indicate activation.
  • Panic: Pressing and holding the LOCK or UNLOCK button for 3 seconds activates the siren/horn and flashes the parking lights.
  • Remote Valet: Pressing LOCK then UNLOCK then TRUNK + START within 5 seconds enters valet mode. The controller shows the valet icon.
  • Vehicle Temp Request: Pressing "P" then START within 5 seconds requests the vehicle's interior temperature. The controller displays the temperature and indicates if it's below 40°F (4°C) or above 90°F (32°C).
  • Lock/Unlock Status Update Request: Pressing "P" then LOCK within 5 seconds sends a full status update to the controller.
  • Emergency Override: Allows disarming the system without a transmitter by using the valet button and ignition key.
  • SecureCode: A customizable 1-9 button valet press sequence for emergency override, offering enhanced security.
  • Valet Mode: Disables all security and remote start functions. Activated by pressing and holding the valet switch for 2 seconds.
  • Multi-Car Operation: The controller can operate up to 2 different systems, allowing users to switch between vehicles.
  • Setting the Clock: Pressing "P" for 5 seconds accesses controller features, then "P" again to set the clock.
