Installaon and Service Informaon
Fimco High-Flo High Performance pumps are designed to pump water and aqueous soluons of common pescides. They are not
designed to pump petroleum products or other ammable materials. They are not designed to pump bleach soluons. Use of this
pump for petroleum products or bleach soluons will void the warranty. When pumping liquids other than water, the pump
should be ushed out with a cleaning soluon, such as Fimco Tank Neutralizer & Cleaner, or clean water mixed with a good grade
dish soap aer each use to prolong pump life.
This High-Flo High Performance pump is equipped with an internal bypass valve with a factory set pressure limit. When the system
pressure hits the limit, the internal valve will open and circulate uid internally to relieve excess pressure. Operang the pump for
longer than 10 minutes in the bypass stage, discharge is closed, could damage the check valve. The motor will connue to run unl
the pump is shut o with the manual switch located in the lead wire or the pump is disconnected from the power source.
High-Flo High Performance pumps are self-priming. Vercal prime will depend on the viscosity of the liquid and sucon line size.
Minimum recommended sucon line size is 3/8 inch. Make sure all hose clamps are ght before tesng or spraying for the rst
me. The installaon of a 50 mesh strainer is recommended to prevent debris or other foreign material from entering the pump
and causing pump failure. The pump should be mounted in a dry and adequately venlated area. The pump can be mounted hori-
zontally or vercally. If mounted vercally, the pump head should be down and the motor should be up. This pump has 3/8” fe-
male pipe threads at the inlet and outlet ports. Use 3/8” male pipe threaded ng to connect to this pump. Use exible hose or
tubing to connect to the inlet and outlet ports on the pump. This minimizes stress on the pump head. Never use rigid pipe connec-
ons. Do not compress the feet. Overghtening will reduce the ability to isolate vibraon & noise.
Pump is rated at 2.4 GPM @ open ow.
Pump is designed to run o of the baery of your ATV, lawn tractor, or other vehicle with a 12V system. If using a stand alone
baery, use a deep cycle RV or marine baery.
The pump should be winterized before storage, by pumping a soluon of RV anfreeze through it, and the enre plumbing system.
Retain a copy of receipt for your pump.
As it will be required to validate any warranty service.
High-Flo High Performance Pumps are warranted against manufacturer or workmanship defects forTwo (2) years from date of
purchase for home owner usage and 90 days for commercial usage.

Overview

This document is the owner's manual for the Fimco High-Flo High Performance Bypass Diaphragm Pump, model HFP-24000-214 (5281373/5151089).

Function Description:

The Fimco High-Flo High Performance pump is designed for pumping water and aqueous solutions of common pesticides. It is explicitly stated that the pump is not designed for petroleum products, other flammable materials, or bleach solutions. Using the pump for these prohibited substances will void the warranty. When pumping liquids other than water, the pump should be flushed with a cleaning solution (such as Fimco Tank Neutralizer & Cleaner) or clean water mixed with a good grade dish soap after each use to prolong its life.

This pump is equipped with an internal bypass valve with a factory-set pressure limit. When the system pressure reaches this limit, the internal valve opens, circulating fluid internally to relieve excess pressure. Operating the pump for longer than 10 minutes in the bypass stage (when discharge is closed) could damage the check valve. The motor will continue to run until it is shut off via the manual switch on the lead wire or by disconnecting it from the power source.

The pump is self-priming, with vertical prime depending on the liquid's viscosity and suction line size. It is designed to run off a 12V system, such as an ATV battery, lawn tractor battery, or other vehicle battery. For stand-alone use, a deep cycle RV or marine battery is recommended.

    • A 50 mesh strainer is recommended to prevent debris from entering the pump.
    • Mount the pump in a dry and adequately ventilated area.
    • Can be mounted horizontally or vertically; if vertical, the pump head should be down and the motor up.
    • Use flexible hose or tubing for connections to minimize stress on the pump head.
    • Never use rigid pipe connections.
    • Do not compress the feet, as overtightening reduces vibration and noise isolation.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • WARNING: Read and understand the owner's manual before use.
    • WARNING: Follow chemical label instructions and wear protective gear.
    • WARNING: Know emergency procedures for chemical handling (leaks, contact, poisoning, spills).
    • WARNING: Clean the pump immediately after use.
    • WARNING: Keep pump and spray materials away from people, children, and pets.
    • WARNING: Do not turn on power until ready to spray to avoid unintentional release.
    • WARNING: Keep all parts in good condition; fix damaged/worn parts immediately.
    • WARNING: Always test for leaks with water after any repair work.
    • WARNING: Improper use or chemical handling can result in injury, illness, or environmental damage.
    • WARNING: Use caution when connecting/disconnecting to a 12V battery. Connect positive (red) first, then negative (black), then pump lead wire. Disconnect pump lead wire first, then negative, then positive.
    • WARNING: Ensure wiring harness is not pinched or damaged to prevent pump damage, overheating, meltdown, or fire.
    • STOP WARNING: Do not use in an explosive environment or to pump flammable/combustible fluids (gasoline, diesel, kerosene, fuel, oil, etc.).
    • STOP WARNING: Do not use to pump bleach, chlorine, or any petroleum-based product (gasoline, diesel, kerosene, oil) – this will damage the pump and void the warranty.
    • Do not use to transfer any product intended for human consumption.
    • Do not modify pump design.
    • Do not spray when wind exceeds 4 MPH to minimize drift.
    • Keep people and pets clear of the area being sprayed.
    • Always turn off power and relieve pressure when leaving the pump unattended.
  • Pre-Spraying:
    • Inspect and prepare the pump and sprayer.
    • Test the sprayer with plain water first to check for leaks.
    • Keep the pump off until ready to spray.
  • During Spraying:
    • Follow chemical labels to avoid over-spraying.
    • Wear protective gear if needed.
    • Clean up spills immediately.
  • Post-Spraying:
    • Clean pump and sprayer thoroughly using a tank neutralizer cleaner.
    • Dispose of or store chemicals properly.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning:
    • After each use, drain the tank, dispose of chemicals, then fill halfway with clean water. Run the pump through the system and nozzles. Drain and refill halfway, add a good quality tank cleaner (e.g., Fimco Tank Neutralizer & Cleaner). Circulate for 15 minutes, then spray out through the handgun nozzle. Refill with clean water and repeat.
    • WARNING: Do not allow chemicals to sit in the pump for extended periods of idleness, as some chemicals will damage pump valves. Always flush as instructed.
  • Winter Storage:
    • Prepare the sprayer for end-of-season storage by pumping RV antifreeze through the system. This lubricates internal parts, protects against corrosion, and prevents freezing. RV antifreeze is non-toxic and biodegradable.
    • Thoroughly clean and drain the sprayer as much as possible. Pour enough pink RV antifreeze into the tank, turn on the pump, and circulate it through the entire plumbing system, including the bypass. Operate the handgun until pink fluid sprays from the nozzle. Leave any remaining antifreeze in the tank.
    • Before next usage, rinse the antifreeze from the sprayer with clean water.
    • Removing from storage: Drain the antifreeze, fill the tank with fresh water, run through the system, and dispose of antifreeze and flush water properly.
  • Troubleshooting (Common FAQs):
    • Pump runs all the time: This is a bypass pump and will run when discharge is closed.
    • Pump surges: Low flow/high pressure (e.g., spray wand adjusted to too fine a mist) can cause surging. Adjust the nozzle for higher flow.
    • Adjusting Pressure: Pressure can only be adjusted by opening the pressure adjust (bypass) valve (if equipped) to return water/solution to the tank.
    • Pump quit/won't run: Check electrical connections, lead wire switch, fuses, and proper voltage.
    • Low flow/no flow: Check for clogged/kinked intake hose, clogged intake strainer, and proper voltage. Clean the intake strainer regularly.
    • Fuse blows: Check for excessive voltage or damaged/defective wire harness.
    • Pump continues to run (bypassing): This is normal when discharge is closed. Check for empty product supply.
  • Cleaning the Check Valve (for low/no pressure):
    • If experiencing low/no pressure after checking filter screen and other troubleshooting, remove the pump head (held by 7 screws).
    • The first piece inside the head is the check valve.
    • Clean the check valve under hot, soapy water (good grade dish soap) with a soft-bristled brush.
    • Let it soak for about an hour in the hot soapy solution.
    • Replace and reassemble the pump. If issues persist, replace the part.
