selector
Provided
primarily
for
the
selection
of
operating
modes,
this
selector
is
also
used
when
balancing
the
volumes
from
the
left
and
right
speaker
systems
or
checking
speaker
system
connections
for
correct
phasing.
MONO
..
.The
position
for
monaural
sound
reproduction.
In
this
mode,
sound
from
the
left
and
right
channels
will
be
blended.
STEREO
.
.The
position
for
sound
reproduction
in
stereo.
The
MODE
selector
should
normally
be
set
to
this
position.
REV.
iid
The
delivery
of
stereo
sound
signals
to
the
left
and
right
speaker
systems
will
be
reversed
by
setting
the
MODE
selector
to
this
position.
9.
TAPE
MONITOR
switch
Use
this
three-poition
switch
to
select
the
system
tape
deck
for
playing
tapes
or
for
monitoring
sound
being
recorded.
Set
it
to
SOURCE
(center
position)
when
playing
records
or
listening
to
radio
programs.
10.
TAPE
DUPLICATE
switch
Provided
for
use
when
dubbing
sound
from
tape
to
tape.
Be
sure
to
set
this
switch
to
OFF
(center
position)
for
normal
tape
recording
operation
and
for
playing
back
tapes.
11.
LOUDNESS
CONTOUR
switch
Set
this
button
to
the
ON
or
OFF
position
as
desired.
Depressing
it
to
the
ON
position
will
restore
tonal
balance
and
brilliance
at
normal
and
lower
volume
levels.
12.
PHONES
jack
Plug
the
headphones
into
this
jack
for
personal
listening.
AMPLIFIER
OPERATION
Before
switching
on
the
power
to
the
amplifier,
the
strict
observance
of
the
following
steps
will
protect
your
speaker
systems
from
damage
and
prevent
possible
problems.
(1)
Set the
VOLUME
control
knob
to
“0”
(minimum).
(2)
Set the
TAPE
MONITOR
switch
to
SOURCE.
(3)
Set
the
TAPE
DUPLICATE
switch
to
center.
(4)
Set the
BALANCE
control
knob
to
center.
(5)
Set the
MODE
selector
to
STEREO.
(6)
Set the
SPEAKERS
selector
to
A,
B
or
A+B
position,
depending
on
the
rear
terminals
to
which
your
speaker
system
is
connected.
Push
the
POWER
switch
to
ON
only
after
completing
the
steps
described
above.
LISTENING
TO
RADIO
BROADCASTS
First,
make
sure
that
the
tuner
output
cables
are
connected
to
the
TUNER
INPUT
jacks
on
the
rear
panel.
1)
Set
the
FUNCTION
selector
to
TUNER.
2)
Turn
the
power
on
and
tune
in
an
AM
or
FM
station
by
turning
the
tuning
knob
on
your
tuner.
3)
Adjust
VOLUME,
BASS
and
TREBLE
controls
for
the
most
pleasing
sound.
NOTE:
Refer
to
“OPERATING
INSTRUCTIONS”
supplied
with
your
tuner.
LISTENING
TO
RECORDS
First,
make
sure
that
the
turntable
output
cables
(with
magnetic
cartridge)
are
connected
to
the
PHONO
INPUT
jacks
on
the
rear
panel.
If
the
turntable
has
a
ground
wire,
connect
it
to
the
GND
terminal
below
the
PHONO
INPUT
jacks.
1)
Set
the
FUNCTION
selector
to
PHONO.
2)
Turn
the
power
on
and
play
a
record
on
our
turntable.
3)
Adjust
VOLUME,
BASS
and
TREBLE
controls
for
the
most
pleasing
sound.
NOTE:
Refer
to
“OPERATING
INSTRUCTIONS”
supplied
with
your
turntable.
CAUTION:
(1)
Set
the
VOLUME
control
knob
to
“0”
(minimum)
before
placing
the
tone
arm
on
the
record.
(2)
Howling
may
occur
while
a
record
is
being
played
when
the
sound
volume
is
increased.
This
is
caused
by
feedback
of
sound
between
the
turntable
and
the
speaker
systems
and
should
not
be
mistaken
for
a
problem
with
the
amplifier.
To
correct,
place
the
speaker
systems
as
far
away
from
the
system
turntable
as
practical.
It
is
also
advised
that
the
speaker
systems
be
placed
on
rigid
individual
supports.
LISTENING
THROUGH
HEADPHONES
Set the
VOLUME
control
knob
to
“0”
(minimum)
and
then
plug
the
headphones
into
the
jack
marked
FHONES.
Adjust
VOLUME,
BASS
and
TREBLE
controls
the
same
way
as
when
listening
through
the
speaker
systems.
Set
the
SPEAKERS
selector
to
OFF
when
speaker
systems
are
connected
to
the
SPEAKERS
terminals,
and
sound
will
be
heard
through
the
headphones
only.
NOTE:
The
VOLUME
control
knob
should
be
set
to
“0”
(minimum)
before
connecting
or
disconnecting
the
headphones.
This
precaution
is
necessary
to
protect
the
headphones
from
damage.
REPRODUCING
SOUND
FROM
COMPONENT
CONNECTED
TO
AUX
TERMINALS
First,
make
sure
that
the
component
output
cables
are
con-
nected
to
the
AUX
INPUT
jacks
on
the
rear
panel.
1)
Set
the
FUNCTION
selector
to
AUX.
2)
Turn
the
power
on
and
also
tum
on
the
component
unit
connected
to
the
AUX
INPUT
jacks.
3)
Adjust
VOLUME,
BASS
and
TREBLE
controls
for
the
most
pleasing
sound.
