Why is my FoodSaver Kitchen Appliance bag not sealing properly?

  Several factors can prevent your FoodSaver bag from sealing correctly. It could be due to moisture or grease at the sealing point; if so, wipe it away with a clean, dry paper towel. Too much liquid in the bag can also be the culprit; try freezing the contents beforehand. Finally, a crease on the seal line can interfere; gently stretch the bag flat as you insert it, holding it until the vacuum pump starts. If it still doesn't seal, create a second seal above the first one.

  If the FoodSaver pump runs for over 2 minutes without removing air, ensure the bag's open end is correctly placed in the drip tray within the lower gasket area. Check that both gaskets are properly fitted and undamaged. Confirm at least one end of the bag is sealed. Inspect the unit for foreign objects on the gaskets. Allow enough room (75 mm) at the bag's top to fit into the drip tray with the lid closed and latched. Ensure the accessory hose isn't attached and the lid is fully closed with the latch secured.

  If nothing occurs when you press the Vacuum and Seal or Instant Seal button on your FoodSaver, ensure that the lid is completely closed and the latch is in the closed position.

  If the Instant Seal light is flashing on your FoodSaver, it might be overheating from heavy use. Wait 20 minutes for the appliance to cool down. Remember to wait at least 20 seconds between vacuum packaging items during use.

  If the Power light on your FoodSaver turns off when the lid is closed, the appliance may have entered Standby mode after 12 minutes of inactivity. Press any function button, such as Vacuum and Seal, to return to the mode you need.
