Why does air keep getting back into my FoodSaver bag after sealing?

  Wrinkles along the seal of the FoodSaver bag can cause air to re-enter. Also, moisture or food debris along the seal can prevent proper sealing. Cut the bag open, wipe the top inside, and try resealing. If you're sealing liquids, use the Liquid mode. Sharp food items may puncture the bag, so use a new bag or cover them with a soft material before resealing. Fermentation or natural gases may also cause air to re-enter, indicating spoilage. In this case, discard the food. Finally, the bag itself might be faulty, so try another one.

What to do if my FoodSaver container isn't vacuum sealing?

  Ensure the FoodSaver Container Lid is correctly aligned with the container opening and that you press the HandHeld button. Also, make sure the Container Lid is securely closed on all 4 sides. Check the rubber Gasket on the inside of the lid for food residues and clean it if necessary. Examine the container rim for cracks or scratches and ensure the container valve is clean.

  If you're having trouble inserting the bag into the FoodSaver, make sure there is enough bag material to reach the center of the Drip Tray, leaving about three inches of extra space for a tight seal. Gently stretch the bag flat while inserting it, curling it down into the Drip Tray.

  The Sealing Strip may be too hot. Allow at least 20 seconds between seals for the Food Saver appliance to cool down. It's also important to use FoodSaver brand bags, as they are specifically designed for FoodSaver units.

What does it mean when all the lights are flashing on my FoodSaver Food Saver?

  When the drip tray is full, the liquid, dry, moist, and sous vide lights will flash. The drip tray needs to be emptied and dried before reinstalling it back into the Food Saver appliance.

  If the Appliance Lid will not automatically close, and you've just removed or pressed the Cancel Button, wait a few seconds before re-inserting. Food or debris may be obstructing the sensors. Fully open the lid and wipe off the bottom underneath the two black tabs with a damp towel.
