Usage Features
The induction hob offers a range of features to enhance the cooking experience:
- Touch Controls: The controls are touch-sensitive, requiring no pressure. Users should use the ball of their finger and ensure the controls are clean and dry for proper function.
- Start Cooking: To begin, touch the ON/OFF control. The display will show "-" or "- -" indicating standby mode. Place suitable cookware on the desired cooking zone, ensuring the pan's bottom and the cooking zone are clean and dry. Then, touch the heating zone slider control, and a corresponding indicator will flash. Select a heat setting by touching the slider control. If no heat setting is chosen within one minute, the hob will automatically switch off.
- Heat Settings: The hob offers nine heat settings, with specific recommendations for different cooking tasks:
- 1-2: Delicate warming, melting chocolate/butter, gentle simmering, slow warming.
- 3-4: Reheating, rapid simmering, cooking rice.
- 5-6: Pancakes, sautéing.
- 7-8: Cooking pasta, stir-frying, searing.
- 9: Bringing soup to the boil, boiling water.
- Boost Function: This function allows for a temporary increase in power to a cooking zone, indicated by "b" on the display, reaching maximum power. It can be activated by touching the boost control (P) after selecting a cooking zone. To cancel, touch the heating zone selection control for the boosted zone. The boost function can work on any cooking zone and will revert to its original setting after 10 minutes (or to setting 9 if the original was 0).
- Finish Cooking: To turn off a cooking zone, touch its selection control and then slide the power control to the left until "0" is displayed. To turn off the entire cooktop, touch the ON/OFF control.
- Hot Surface Indicator (H): After cooking, "H" will appear on the display for hot cooking zones, indicating that the surface is still hot to touch. This can also be used as an energy-saving function to heat further pans.
- Locking Controls: The controls can be locked to prevent unintended use, especially by children. To lock, touch and hold the Timer "-" and "+" controls simultaneously until "Lo" appears. To unlock, repeat the action. When locked, all controls except ON/OFF are disabled.
- Timer Control: The timer can be used in two ways:
- Minute Minder: Functions as a standalone timer without affecting cooking zones. Set by touching the "+" control of the timer, then adjusting with "-" or "+". Maximum time is 99 minutes.
- Cooking Zone Timer: Sets a specific cooking zone to turn off automatically after a set time. This is done by selecting the cooking zone, then setting the timer.
- Default Working Times (Auto Shut Down): As a safety feature, the hob will automatically shut down if left unattended for a period, which varies depending on the power level (e.g., 8 hours for levels 1-3, 4 hours for levels 4-6, 2 hours for levels 7-9). If a pot is removed, the hob stops heating immediately and switches off after 2 minutes.
- Cookware Compatibility: Only cookware with a magnetic base suitable for induction cooking should be used. A magnet test can verify suitability. Cookware made of pure stainless steel, aluminum, copper without a magnetic base, glass, wood, porcelain, ceramic, or earthenware is not suitable. Pans should have flat, smooth bases and match the size of the cooking zone. Pans smaller than 140mm may not be detected.
Maintenance Features
Regular care and cleaning are crucial for maintaining the hob's appearance and functionality:
- Everyday Soiling on Glass:
- Switch off the cooktop.
- Apply a cooktop cleaner while the glass is warm (not hot).
- Rinse and wipe dry with a clean cloth or paper towel.
- Switch the cooktop back on.
- Important: Avoid heavy-duty scourers or abrasive cleaners that can scratch the glass. Never leave cleaning residue.
- Boilovers, Melts, and Hot Sugary Spills: These should be removed immediately with a fish slice, palette knife, or razor blade scraper suitable for induction glass cooktops, taking care around hot zones.
- Switch off the cooktop at the wall.
- Hold the blade at a 30° angle and scrape the spill to a cool area.
- Clean the spill with a dishcloth or paper towel.
- Follow steps for everyday soiling.
- Important: If left to cool, these spills can be difficult to remove and may permanently damage the glass surface. Scraper blades are razor-sharp and should be handled with extreme care.
- Spillovers on Touch Controls:
- Switch off the cooktop.
- Soak up the spill.
- Wipe the control area with a clean damp sponge or cloth.
- Wipe the area completely dry with a paper towel.
- Switch the cooktop back on.
- Important: Liquid on controls can cause beeping, automatic shutdown, or malfunction.
- Troubleshooting: The manual provides a table for common problems, possible causes, and solutions, such as checking power supply, unlocking controls, ensuring dry control areas, using suitable cookware, and checking for fan operation. Error codes (E1-E6, F3-FD) are also listed with corresponding solutions, often involving waiting for temperature normalization or checking connections. For "No Auto-Recovery" errors (F3-FD), it advises checking/replacing the ceramic plate temperature sensor or replacing the power board. Users are warned not to disassemble the unit themselves.
