This document describes the use and care of a Frigidaire room air conditioner, providing instructions for operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
The Frigidaire room air conditioner is designed to cool and dehumidify a room. It features an electronic control panel and a remote control for convenient operation. The unit can be set to various modes, including Cool, Auto, Dry, and Fan Only, to suit different comfort needs. It also includes an Eco feature for energy-efficient operation and a Sleep feature for comfortable nighttime cooling. The unit's power supply cord incorporates a current detection device to reduce the risk of fire.
Turning the Unit On/Off: To turn the unit on, press the ON/OFF button. The unit will initially run in Cool mode with the Eco feature activated and Auto fan speed. To turn the unit off, press the ON/OFF button again.
Operating Modes:
Fan Speed Adjustment: The fan speed can be adjusted among four settings: Auto, Lo (Low), Med (Medium), and Hi (High). This is not applicable in "Auto" or "Dry" modes, or when the Sleep feature is activated. In Auto fan speed, the fan starts at Low and adjusts based on room temperature.
Temperature Setting: The desired temperature can be set using the UP (∧) or DOWN (∨) buttons on the control panel or remote. The unit will maintain the set temperature within a range of 62°F (17°C) to 86°F (30°C). The control is capable of displaying temperature in both Fahrenheit and Celsius.
Eco Feature: When the Eco feature is active, if the room temperature falls below the set temperature, the fan will continue to run for 3 minutes after the compressor shuts off. The fan then cycles on for 2 minutes at 10-minute intervals until the room temperature rises above the set temperature, at which point the compressor restarts. This feature can be activated or deactivated by pressing the Eco button, but it is invalid in Fan Only mode.
Sleep Feature: In Sleep mode, the unit automatically selects Auto fan speed. The selected temperature will increase by 2°F after 30 minutes, and then by another 2°F after an additional 30 minutes. This new temperature is maintained for 7 hours before returning to the originally selected temperature. Sleep mode can be canceled at any time by pressing the "Sleep," "Fan speed," or "Mode" button.
Timer Feature (Delay Stop/Start): The timer allows for delayed stopping or starting of the unit. Press the Timer button, then use the UP (∧) or DOWN (∨) arrows to set the delay time in 0.5-hour increments up to 10 hours, and then 1-hour increments up to 24 hours. The setting is confirmed automatically after 5 seconds. The timer can be canceled by pressing and holding the Timer button for 2 seconds or by pressing the ON/OFF button.
Remote Sensing Feature (on some models): This feature, activated via the remote control in cooling mode, allows the remote to act as a thermostat. Point the remote towards the unit and press the Remote Sensing button. Use the UP (∧) or DOWN (∨) buttons on the remote to set the desired temperature. The unit's control panel will illuminate to indicate signal reception. The remote's display shows the temperature at its location. If the unit does not receive a signal for 7 minutes, the feature halts until a signal is received again. It can be terminated by pressing the Remote Sensing button again or the main ON/OFF button.
Fresh Air Vent Control (on some models): The Fresh Air Vent allows control over air circulation:
Air Directional Louvers: Slider-type louvers allow directing airflow Up or Down and Left or Right. Drag the adjuster tablet for Left/Right direction and pivot horizontal louvers for Up/Down direction.
Light Feature: The display and all LED indicators on the control panel can be turned off by pressing the "Light" button on the remote control. If any other button is pressed, the unit will beep, and the display/LEDs will illuminate for 5 seconds before turning off again. Pressing the "Light" button again or unplugging the unit cancels this setting.
Power Supply Cord Current Device: The power supply cord has a current detection device. To test it, plug in the AC, press the TEST button (the RESET button will pop out), then press the RESET button (it will engage). A light on the plug head indicates power supply. Do not use this device to turn the unit on or off. Always ensure the RESET button is pushed in for correct operation.
Air Filter Cleaning: The air filter should be checked at least once a month. Trapped particles can accumulate and cause frost on cooling coils. To clean:
Check Filter Feature: An LED light illuminates after 250 hours of operation as a reminder to clean the air filter. To reset this reminder after cleaning, press the "Filter Reset" button, and the light will turn off.
Cabinet Cleaning: Unplug the air conditioner before cleaning to prevent shock or fire hazards. The cabinet and front can be dusted with an oil-free cloth or washed with a cloth dampened in a solution of warm water and mild liquid dishwashing detergent. Rinse thoroughly and wipe dry. Avoid harsh cleaners, wax, or polish on the cabinet front. Wring excess water from the cloth before wiping around controls to prevent damage. Plug in the air conditioner after cleaning.
Winter Storage: If storing the unit for winter, remove it carefully following the installation instructions. Cover it with plastic or return it to its original carton.
