GRILL LIGHTING INSTRUCTIONS
TO LIGHT THE SEARING BURNER:
1. Push and hold the Searing Burner control knob for about 5 seconds without rotating. This will
allow time for the gas to flow into the searing burner.
2. Turn the knob to the "HI" position and the igniter will click to light the burner.
If the burner does not light in 4 seconds turn the control knob to "OFF". Wait 5 minutes
and try again.
If the Searing Burner does not light after several attempts, then refer to the "
Match Lighting
Instructions
" on page 17.
In general, the Searing Burner may be used for both "searing" and "cooking". If you
follow our simple infrared cooking suggestions, you're sure to get the most enjoyment
out of your grill.
The high heat of a Searing Burner allows you to quickly sear meats to seal in flavor and juices,
while allowing the surface to soak in smoke and food aroma that is produced as grease drippings
are vaporized by the Searing Burner.
HOW TO "SEAR" MEATS USING THE SEARING BURNER:
Many chefs use the Searing Burner to "sear" meats, especially steaks, in conjunction with the
main cooking burners.
1. After allowing the searing burner (and the main burner) to warm up, place meats on the grill
grids above the Searing Burner for 2 to 2 1/2 minutes
on each side.
2. After searing, transfer the meat to the main cooking burners and continue to cook until
desired doneness.
HOW TO "COOK" MEATS USING THE SEARING BURNER:
1. After allowing the searing burner to warm up, place meats on the grill grids above the Searing
Burner, and be sure to turn every 2 to 2 1/2 minutes until food is cooked to desired doneness.
2. Perfect cross sear marks can be made by rotating food 90°
