WHERE TO PLACE
• In a hallway that is centrally located near several bedrooms
• If on a ceiling, place in the center of the room at least 4 inches away from the
nearest wall
• If on a wall, place 4–12 inches below the ceiling
WHERE NOT TO PLACE
• Near a ventilation source, which may prevent smoke from reaching the sensor
• In a damp or very humid area (such as a bathroom with a shower)
• In or near kitchens, garages, furnaces/hot water heaters, or space heaters
