A/V Mode
Allows the user to select between integration and presentation modes. In integration modes, after a transiton both
main and preview displays show the same image, and the source button flashes between red and green.
In presentation mode the main and preview displays switch images on a transition, and the red and green input
source buttons switch color. Example: Main is set on input 4 and preview is set on input 2, pressing the cut button in
presentation mode will cause the main to display input 2 and preview 4, the input source 2 button which was green
turns red, and the input source button 4 which was red turns green.
Remote Protocol
Allows the user to choose between RS232 and RS485 communications. If RS485 is chosen, the Compass S2
prompts for an ID >.
Factory Reset Submenu

Pressing the SEL key will perform a factory reset. Pressing ESC key will return the user to the previous menu.
KEYING and FREEZE Two New Features
Keying
Keying allows the user to overlay one scaler image over another; this feature is available only when the S2 is in the
“presentation” mode and and “video breakaway” is set:
To enter presentation mode press the MISC button, scroll down to A/V MODE press select to select the A/V MODE,
then use the knob to display PRESEN, then press the SELECT button to set A/V MODE to “presentation”.
To set the unit in “video breakaway” mode push the AV MODE pushbutton on the front panel until it turns green and
the word “Breakaway” is displayed in the FLD window.
Setup
Press the EFF button, scroll to KEY TRANS and select either CUT or DISSOLVE then press SELECT. Scroll down to
KEY THRESHOLD, press SELECT. Use the knob to change the threshold to more than 0%(20% is usually a good
starting point), and press SELECT. Press MISC to exit setup.
Activate
The user will preview the input source to overlay using the input source buttons. To engage keying, press and hold
the ESC and MIC buttons at the same time, The MIC button will blink while keying is active. Pressing the transition
button chosen as the KEY TRANS will overlay the main screen with the preview screen.
Deactivate
Press the key chosen as the KEY TRANS to transition keying off the main. To disengage keying, press and hold the
ESC and MIC
buttons at the same time, the MIC button will stop blinking.
