Overview

This document describes the GAPOSA XQ XS Geo series of tubular motors, specifically models XQ40, XQ50, and XQ60, which are designed for shutters and awnings. These motors feature an encoder and electronic limits, offering precise and reliable operation.

Function Description:

The GAPOSA XQ XS Geo tubular motors are electromechanical devices intended to automate the movement of shutters and awnings. They are installed inside the roller tube of the shutter or awning system. The integrated encoder allows for accurate positioning and electronic limit setting, which defines the upper and lower stopping points of the system. This eliminates the need for mechanical limit switches, offering greater flexibility and precision in installation and operation. The motors are designed to operate with either a pushbutton tool (ACPRE/ACPRET) for setting limits or, for the XQ50 model, with a standard pushbutton.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Motor Series: XQ XS Geo
  • Models: XQ40, XQ50, XQ60
  • Type: Tubular motors with encoder and electronic limits.
  • Power Supply: 230 V~ / 50 Hz.
  • Cable Specifications: 4x0.75 mm² (Neutral: Blue, Ground: Yellow/Green, Direction of rotation 1: Brown, Direction of rotation 2: Black).
  • Minimum Tube Diameter (XQ50):
    • Up to 15Nm torque: 50x1.5mm
    • Higher torques: 60x1.5mm
  • Minimum Tube Diameter (XQ60): 63x1.5mm
  • Installation Height: The fixing bracket must be fixed at a height not less than 1.8m.
  • Moving Parts Protection: Motor moving parts installed under 2.5m from the ground must be protected.
  • Switching Device: The power supply must include a switching device with an opening distance between contacts of at least 3mm.
  • Parallel Connection (Electronic Motors):
    • Possible in residential applications if total power cable length does not exceed 10 meters.
    • Number of motors limited to 4-5, depending on switch amperage capacity.
    • Not possible when controlled by a Building Management System (BMS), unless approved and tested by the BMS manufacturer.
    • Only standard switches allowing either UP or DOWN (not both simultaneously) must be used. Mechanically or electrically interlocked switches are required.
    • Switchover time from UP to DOWN or vice versa must be at least 0.5 seconds, effected through an OFF position. Switches with a defined neutral position or built-in switching delay should be used.
    • "Active path" control units (monitoring current draw) are incompatible.

Usage Features:

  • Electronic Limits: The motors utilize electronic limits, which are set during installation. This allows for precise control over the opening and closing positions of the shutter or awning.
  • Encoder: The encoder provides feedback on the motor's position, ensuring accuracy and consistency in stopping points.
  • Setting Options:
    • Pushbutton Tool (ACPRE/ACPRET): An optional tool for simplified limit setting. This method is applicable for both shutters with mechanical stops/cassette awnings and shutters/awnings without stops.
    • Standard Pushbutton (XQ50 only): For the XQ50 model, limits can also be set using a standard pushbutton, which involves pressing a white button on the motor head in conjunction with the UP or DOWN buttons. This method also supports both types of installations (with or without stops).
  • Pre-set Limit Switches: Motors are supplied with pre-set limit switches to allow two turns in both directions, facilitating initial setup.
  • Installation Flexibility: The limit-setting procedures are valid for both right and left-side installations.
  • Safety Features:
    • The device is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience/knowledge, unless supervised or instructed by a responsible person.
    • Children should be supervised to prevent them from playing with the device or fixed control devices.
    • Control devices installed in a fixed manner must be positioned in view.

Maintenance Features:

  • Regular Checks: Frequently check for loss of balance, signs of wear, or damaged wires.
  • No Repairs/Maintenance During Operation: Do not use the device if any repairing or maintenance is needed. Do not set the shutter/awning into motion while cleaning or servicing; disconnect the supply.
  • Cable Replacement: Connecting cables to the network can only be replaced with cables of the same type provided by the motor manufacturer.
  • Installation Warnings:
    • Incorrect installation can cause serious injuries. Follow instructions carefully.
    • Before operation, remove all unnecessary cables and turn off any equipment not required.
    • Never hit the head of the motor (D) when inserting it into the tube.
    • Ensure screws used to fix the last slat on the tube are not too long to reach the tubular part of the motor. Use appropriate screws or fixing clips.
    • A wrong motor installation can damage persons or objects.

The manual emphasizes safety throughout, providing clear instructions for installation and electrical connection to ensure proper and safe operation of the tubular motors.
