To display page options, press the MENU button once from the corresponding page.

BACKLIGHT
• Press and hold the POWER key to turn the GPSMAP 172/172C On.
• Press ENTER to acknowledge the warning.
• The GPS Page will be displayed while the GPSMAP 172/172C is acquiring satellite data.
• To start the simulator, from the GPS page press MENU, select ‘Start Simulator’ and press ENTER.
• To view the GPS info after the unit has acquired, press MENU twice, then highlight the ‘GPS’ tab
on the Main Menu using the ARROW KEYPAD.
• Press and hold the POWER key for approximately three seconds to turn the unit off.
• Briefl y press the POWER key
to activate the backlight
adjustments.
• Pressing the ARROW
KEYPAD UP/DOWN adjusts
the backlight level and LEFT/
RIGHT adjusts the contrast.
Press ENTER to accept.

• Press the FIND button to display the Find List.
• Use the ARROW KEYPAD to highlight the desired category
and press ENTER.
• Use the ARROW KEYPAD to highlight the item you wish to
see more details on and press ENTER.

• Hold the MOB key for two seconds to activate the MOB
function.
• To store the Man Over Board (MOB) waypoint and begin
immediate navigation to that point, press ENTER.
• To stop MOB navigation, press the NAV key and choose
‘Stop Navigation’.
• With MOB navigation cancelled, the MOB waypoint can
be deleted from the waypoint list. Deleting the waypoint
removes it from the Map page.
