subject to incompatible norms. Therefore it is possible that power sup-
plies in foreign countries do not meet the requirements for safe opera-
tion of the appliance. Thus, before operating the appliance abroad,
ensure that safe operation is possible.
Do not use any desk top multi socket outlet, external switching device,
remote control systems, or extension cords to avoid risk of fire or elec-
tric shock. Ensure that the power outlet socket used is always accessi-
ble for unplugging the appliance immediately in case of malfunction
or danger.
The appliance may not be operated on metal surfaces (e.g. sink) to
avoid risk of electric shock. While the appliance is connected to the
power supply: Do not touch the power plug or the appliance with
wet hands.
DO NOT pour or spill any liquids on or under the housing of the
appliance or the power cord. Do not place or immerse the appliance,
power cord, or power plug in water or other liquids. Do not overfill
the water tank (max. 2.8 litres; “MAX” marking) to avoid overflow.
Ensure to empty the drip tray in time (red filling level indicator comes
up). Do not operate the appliance without the drip tray correctly in
place. Otherwise, water could run out and cause hazards due to
overheating, fire and electric shock. Always wipe off spilled liquids
immediately. If liquids run out or are spilled on the housing: Always
immediately unplug the appliance first, before touching the appli-
ance with your hands. Thereafter, dry the appliance and let it dry
naturally for at least 1 day. If in doubt, carefully check the appliance
for leakage. Always completely unwind the power cord before use.
Power cords may never be knotted, twisted, strained or squeezed.
The power cord may not touch hot surfaces or sharp edges. Do not
let the power plug or power cord hang over the edge of the table
or counter. Ensure that no one will pull the appliance by the power
cord. Take care not to entangle in the power cord. Always grasp the
power plug, when disconnecting the power cord. If the power cord
is likely to be damaged, it must be replaced by an authorized service
centre to avoid hazards. Do not attempt to repair the power cord!
