Why are there spots and filming on glasses and flatware in my GE GDT650 Dishwasher?
    • M
      Mark Howard MDDec 1, 2025
Spots and filming on glasses and flatware can occur due to several reasons. You might have extremely hard water. The inlet water temperature might be too low. You might be overloading or improperly loading the dishwasher. You might be using old or damp powder detergent. The rinse agent dispenser might be empty, or you might be using too little or low-performing detergent. To address this, use high-quality rinse agents such as Cascade® Platinum™ Power Dry™ Rinse Aid or Finish® Jet-Dry® Rinse Aid. Make sure water temperature is at least 120°F (49°C). Load dishwasher as shown in the Loading section. Make sure detergent is fresh. Use high quality detergents such as Cascade® Platinum™ ActionPacs™ or Finish® Quantum® Automatic Dishwashing Detergent. Refill the rinse agent dispenser with high qua...

What does it mean when my GE GDT650 BEEPS once every minute?
    • A
      Anthony DavisAug 23, 2025
If your dishwasher beeps once every minute, this is a reminder that the dishwasher door has been left open during operation. It will continue beeping until you press Start and close the door. Press Start and close the door.

Why is my GE GDT650 control panel responding to inputs but never filling with water?
    • P
      Patrick JohnsonAug 26, 2025
If the control panel responds but the dishwasher doesn't fill, make sure the door is firmly closed. Also, ensure the water valve (usually under the sink) is turned on. Finally, the flood float may be stuck; remove the Ultra-Fine filter and lightly tap the piece under the ultra fine filter that looks like a salt shaker, then replace the filter.

Why are my dishes not drying in my GE GDT650?
    • J
      Jordan WeaverAug 27, 2025
Dishes not drying can be due to low inlet water temperature. Make sure inlet water temperature is at least 120°F. Select Boost Dry. Use Boost option. Select a higher cycle, such as Steam-Sani, Presoak- Sani, or Sanitize. Also, the rinse agent dispenser might be empty; check and fill as required. Additional drying time may be needed; leave the door closed after the Clean light appears to allow the fan to run an additional 90 minutes. Note: If you open the door, this fan extension will be cancelled.

Why is my GE Dishwasher beeping at the end of the cycle?
    • M
      Maria MooreAug 27, 2025
The dishwasher beeps twice at the end of the cycle. To turn off the double beep indicator (or re-activate it if it was previously turned off), press the Dry Boost pad 5 times within 3 seconds. A triple beep will sound to indicate the end-of-cycle beep option has been turned on or off.

Why is there steam coming from my GE GDT650?
    • J
      James McmahonSep 18, 2025
Warm, moist air comes through the vent during drying and when water is being pumped out. This is necessary for drying.
  • M
    Michael HallSep 15, 2025
Why do the control panel lights go off when I'm setting controls on my GE Dishwasher?
    • M
      Mr. Hunter VargasSep 16, 2025
If the control panel lights go off while setting controls, it means there was too much time between touching the selected pads. Each pad must be touched within 30 seconds of the others. To relight, touch any pad again or open the door and unlock (top control).

What does noise from my GE GDT650 mean?
    • B
      brandy99Sep 18, 2025
Normal operating sounds include beeping at the end of the cycle (on some models), the detergent cup opening, water entering the dishwasher, the motor stopping and starting at various times, the spray arms starting and stopping, drain pump sounds during pump out, and the drain pump starting and stopping several times during each drain. These are all normal; no action is required. Rattling dishes may be caused by improper loading; make sure dishes are properly loaded. Rattling silverware may be caused by tall utensils bumping against the door; place tall utensils in the upper rack.

How do I fix suds in the tub of my GE GDT650 Dishwasher?
    • M
      mmaloneSep 7, 2025
Suds in the tub are usually caused by using the wrong detergent or spilling rinse agent. Use only high-quality automatic dishwasher detergents to avoid sudsing, such as Cascade® Platinum™ ActionPacs™ or Finish® Quantum® Automatic Dishwashing Detergent. To remove suds, open the dishwasher and let them dissipate. Open the door, press and hold Start for 3 seconds, and close the door. Always wipe up rinse agent spills immediately.

Why won’t water pump out of the tub of my GE Dishwasher?
    • A
      Abigail MayoSep 4, 2025
If water won’t pump out of the tub, the drain is likely clogged. If you have an air gap, clean it. If the dishwasher drains into a disposer, run the disposer to clear it. Check to see if your kitchen sink is draining well. If not, you may need a plumber.
