Why does the control time on my GE GFWS1700 display wrong or changes?
    • B
      Brandy HartSep 23, 2025
If the control time on your GE Washer is wrong or changes, it's likely normal. During the spin cycle, the washer may need to rebalance the load to reduce vibrations. When this happens, the estimated time is increased, causing the time left to increase or jump.

Why does my GE GFWS1700 have no power?
    • S
      Sarah SmithSep 8, 2025
If your GE Washer has no power or isn't working, start by ensuring it's securely plugged into a working outlet. Check that both the hot and cold water supply faucets are fully turned on. Inspect your house's circuit breakers or fuses and replace any blown fuses or reset tripped breakers; the washer should ideally have a separate outlet. Also, the first time the washer is plugged in, it performs automatic system checks, which may take up to 20 seconds before you can use it.

What to do if my GE GFWS1700 is not draining, spinning, or tumbling?
    • A
      Andrew MercadoAug 25, 2025
If your GE washer isn't draining, spinning, or tumbling, it could be due to several reasons. First, the load might be out of balance; try redistributing the clothes and running a Drain + Spin or Rinse + Spin cycle. If you're washing a small load with heavy and light items, increase the load size. Another cause might be a clogged pump, or the drain hose could be kinked or improperly connected, so straighten the drain hose ensuring the washer isn't sitting on it. Also, the household drain may be clogged, requiring you to check your plumbing or call a plumber. Lastly, ensure there's an air gap between the hose and drain to prevent siphoning.

If there's not enough water in your GE washer, it is normal. Horizontal washers do not require the tub to fill with water like top-load washers.

    • A
      Anna ParkerAug 26, 2025
Improper dispensing of softener or bleach in your GE washer may be caused by: * A clogged dispenser: Clean the dispenser drawer monthly to remove buildup of chemicals. * Overfilling: Make sure to use the correct amount of softener or bleach, not exceeding the max line. * Cap issues: Make sure the softener and bleach cap for the dispenser are seated correctly.

      Jermaine OlsonAug 27, 2025
If your GE Washer isn't draining, spinning, or tumbling, it might be due to several reasons. First, the load might be unbalanced; try redistributing the clothes and running a 'Drain + Spin' or 'Rinse + Spin' cycle. If you're washing a small load with heavy and light items, increase the load size. Also, check if the pump is clogged. Ensure the drain hose isn't kinked or that the washer isn't sitting on it. Your household drain could also be clogged, so it’s worth checking your plumbing. Finally, make sure the drain hose isn't siphoning because it's pushed too far down the drain; ensure there's an air gap between the hose and the drain.

Why is water not entering my GE GFWS1700?
    • R
      Richard HamiltonAug 27, 2025
If water isn't entering your GE Washer or is entering slowly, several factors could be at play. After you press Start, the washer performs system checks, and water should flow within 60 seconds. Ensure both hot and cold water faucets are fully turned on. Check the water valve screens and inlet hose screen washers for blockages; turn off the water source, disconnect the hoses, clean the screens, and then reconnect the hoses.

    • V
      Victoria DavidsonAug 28, 2025
If water isn't entering your GE Washer or is entering slowly, consider these possibilities: * The washer performs automatic system checks after the Start button is pressed. Water will flow 60 seconds after Start is pressed. * Make sure both the hot and cold water faucets are fully turned on. * The water valve screens may be clogged. Turn off the water source, remove the water connection hoses from the back of the washer, and clean the screens with a brush or toothpick. Then, reconnect the hoses and turn the water back on. * The inlet hose screen washers may be clogged. Turn off the water source, remove the inlet hoses from the wall faucets, and clean the screen washers in the end of the hoses with a brush or toothpick. Reconnect the hoses and turn the water back on.
