How to fix black or gray marks on dishes in my GE GPT225SSLSS Dishwasher?
    • W
      William ComptonSep 7, 2025
These marks usually appear because aluminum utensils have rubbed against the dishes. Remove the marks with a mild, abrasive cleaner.

Why are my dishes and flatware not clean in my GE GPT225SSLSS Dishwasher?
    • K
      Kevin BauerNov 20, 2025
Several factors can cause this. The filter assembly might be clogged (see the CARE AND CLEANING section). The inlet water temperature may be too low—ensure it's correct by running the hot water faucet nearest the dishwasher until the water temperature stops rising, then start the dishwasher and turn off the faucet, and select Wash Temp - Boost (see the USING THE DISHWASHER section). Low water pressure could also be a factor; normal water pressure should be 20-120 psi. Other potential causes include a clogged air gap or disposer (for Built-In Models Only), improper rack loading (see the Loading section), or poor performing detergent. Also, if you have a Built-In Model check if high drain loop or air gap is not installed (refer to the Installation Instructions for proper drain line installat...

Why isn't the Sanitized light illuminating at the end of the cycle on my GE GPT225SSLSS?
    • R
      Ryan ShieldsSep 17, 2025
The door may have been opened, interrupting the cycle during the final rinse. Avoid opening the door during the wash cycle. Also, the incoming water temperature may have been too low; raise the water heater temperature to between 120°F and 150°F.

What does it mean if the start status indicator light is flashing on my GE GPT225SSLSS?
    • R
      Richard KimSep 13, 2025
The flashing light indicates that the door was opened or the cycle was interrupted. Press the Start pad once and close the door within 4 seconds to start the dishwasher. Press the Start pad a second time when the dishwasher is running only if you wish to cancel the cycle.

Why does my GE GPT225SSLSS Dishwasher have a stained tub interior?
    • D
      david84Sep 12, 2025
An overall yellow or brown film can be caused by iron deposits in water. A special filter in the water supply line is the only way to correct this problem. Contact a water softener company. White film on the inside surface is usually hard water minerals. We recommend Finish® Jet-Dry® Rinse Aid to help prevent hard water mineral deposits from forming. You can also run the dishwasher with citric acid to remove mineral deposits. Citric acid (Part number: WD35X151) can be ordered through GE Appliances Parts. Alternatively, purchase Finish® Dishwasher Cleaner and follow the directions on the label.

Why is detergent left in the dispenser cups of my GE Dishwasher?
    • J
      Justin JimenezSep 10, 2025
This is usually because dishes or utensils are blocking the detergent cup. Reposition the dishes so the water from the lower spray arm can flush the detergent cup (see the Loading section). Also, reposition tall utensils or heavy silverware that may be keeping the dispenser cup door from opening.

    Jeffrey WhiteSep 8, 2025
Why is my GE GPT225SSLSS making noise?
    • S
      Sarah LewisSep 8, 2025
Normal operating sounds include beeping at the end of the cycle, the detergent cup opening, water entering the dishwasher, the motor stopping and starting, the spray arms starting and stopping, and drain pump sounds. These are all normal. If dishes are rattling, make sure they are properly loaded. If silverware is rattling against the door, tall utensils may be placed in the upper rack.

What to do if my GE GPT225SSLSS won’t run?
    • A
      Anna BuchananAug 23, 2025
First, check if a fuse is blown or a circuit breaker is tripped; replace the fuse or reset the breaker, and remove other appliances from the circuit. Ensure the power is turned on, especially if it's controlled by a wall switch. The control panel might be locked; unlock it (see the Getting started section). As a last resort, try rebooting your control by turning off power to the dishwasher (at the circuit breaker or wall switch) for 30 seconds, then turning it back on.
