What to do if water is standing in the bottom of the tub of my GE Dishwasher (Built-In Models Only)?
    • D
      Devin CarneySep 6, 2025
If water is standing in the bottom of the tub, the air gap may be clogged (clean it; see the Care and cleaning section) or a high drain loop or air gap may not be installed (refer to the Installation Instructions for proper drain line installation).

What to do if my GE Dishwasher won’t run?
    • L
      lindawrightAug 26, 2025
If your GE Dishwasher won’t run, start by checking the fuse or circuit breaker and replace or reset it, removing any other appliances from the circuit. Ensure the power is turned on, especially if it's controlled by a wall switch. Also, check if the control panel is locked and unlock it. As a final step, try rebooting the control by turning off power to the dishwasher (at the circuit breaker or wall switch) for 30 seconds, then turning it back on.

Why won’t water pump out of my GE GPT225 Dishwasher?
    • M
      Michelle ConleyAug 26, 2025
If water won’t pump out of your GE Dishwasher tub, the drain might be clogged. If you have an air gap, clean it. If the dishwasher drains into a disposer, run the disposer to clear it. Check to see if your kitchen sink is draining well; if not, you may need a plumber.

What noises are normal for a GE GPT225?
    • B
      brittneycampbellSep 15, 2025
Normal operating sounds include beeping at the end of the cycle, the detergent cup opening, water entering the dishwasher, the motor stopping and starting at various times during the cycle, the spray arms starting and stopping at various times, drain pump sounds during pump out, and the drain pump starting and stopping several times during each drain. These are all normal. If you hear rattling dishes when the spray arm rotates, make sure dishes are properly loaded. If you hear rattling silverware against the door during the wash, tall utensils may be placed in the upper rack to avoid bumping against the inner door during the wash cycle.

Why are my dishes and flatware not clean in my GE GPT225?
    • E
      Eric PenaNov 23, 2025
If your dishes and flatware aren't getting clean in your GE Dishwasher, several factors could be at play. First, the filter assembly might be clogged, so refer to the CARE AND CLEANING section. Also, ensure the inlet water temperature is correct by turning on the hot water faucet nearest the dishwasher until the water temperature stops rising, then start the dishwasher. Select Wash Temp - Boost. Low water pressure could also be the culprit; check if water is coming out of your faucet more slowly than usual and wait until the pressure is normal (20-120 psi). For built-in models, check for clogs in the air gap or disposer, and clean them accordingly. Improper rack loading can also prevent proper cleaning, so ensure large dishware or utensils aren't blocking the detergent dispenser or the was...

Why does my GE Dishwasher have spots and filming on glasses and flatware?
    • S
      Seth RichardsonSep 12, 2025
This can be due to several reasons. Extremely hard water can cause this issue; use rinse agents like Finish® Jet-Dry® Rinse Aid, and consider a water softener if the water is very hard. Ensure the inlet water temperature is at least 120°F (49°C). Avoid overloading or improperly loading the dishwasher (see the Loading section). Old or damp powder detergent can also be a culprit; use fresh, highly rated detergent such as Finish® Quantum® Automatic Dishwashing Detergent. Check if the rinse agent dispenser is empty and refill it with a product like Finish® Jet-Dry® Rinse Aid. Finally, ensure you're using the proper amount of a highly rated detergent.

    • C
      carlsondavidSep 2, 2025
If you're seeing spots and filming on your glasses and flatware in your GE Dishwasher, it could be due to several reasons. If you have extremely hard water, use high-quality rinse agents such as Cascade® Platinum™ Power Dry™ Rinse Aid or Finish® Jet-Dry® Rinse Aid; a softener may be required. Also, make sure the inlet water temperature is at least 120°F (49°C). Avoid overloading the dishwasher and ensure you are loading it properly. Old or damp powder detergent can also cause this issue, so use fresh, high-quality detergents such as Cascade® Platinum™ ActionPacs™ or Finish® Quantum® Automatic Dishwashing Detergent. Finally, check if the rinse agent dispenser is empty and refill it with a high-quality rinse aid. Ensure you're using the proper amount of highly rated detergent.

What causes cloudiness on glassware in my GE GPT225?
    • A
      apowellSep 3, 2025
Cloudiness on glassware in your GE Dishwasher can be caused by a combination of soft water and too much detergent, which is called etching and is permanent. To prevent this, use less detergent if you have soft water and wash glassware in the shortest cycle that will get it clean. It may also be caused by low performing phosphate-free detergent or water temperature entering the dishwasher exceeding 150°F (66°C), which could also be etching, so lower the water heater temperature.
