Questions and Answers

Why does my GE JS760 oven sometimes take longer to preheat?
    • S
      shelby42Sep 12, 2025
The oven in your GE Ranges may take longer to preheat if there is cookware or food in the oven. Remove items to reduce preheat time. Also, adding more racks to the oven will cause the oven to take longer to preheat, so remove some racks. Different cooking modes use different preheat methods, and some modes will take longer than others (i.e., convection bake).

What to do if there is pitting of the GE JS760 cooktop?
    • J
      Joseph HamptonSep 12, 2025
If there is pitting (or indentation) on your GE Ranges cooktop, it's likely due to a hot sugar mixture spilling on it. Call a qualified technician for replacement.

    Ronald GreenSep 12, 2025
What to do if plastic melted to the surface of my GE JS760 Ranges?
    • B
      Brian SanchezSep 12, 2025
If plastic has melted to the surface of your GE Ranges, it's because the hot cooktop came into contact with plastic. See the Cleaning the glass cooktop section as there is potential for permanent damage without proper care.

Is steam from the vent normal for GE JS760?
    • Z
      Zachary OrtizSep 12, 2025
Yes, it is normal to see steam coming out of the oven vents when using GE Ranges. The amount of visible steam will increase as the number of racks or the amount of food being cooked increases.

How to get the display to show “oFFSEt” on GE JS760?
    • L
      Luke ThompsonSep 12, 2025
If you're unable to get the display to show “oFFSEt” on your GE Ranges, it means the oven control pads were not touched properly. The Broil Hi/Lo and Bake pads must be touched at the same time and held for 3 seconds.
  • M
    maddoxjonathanSep 12, 2025
Why doesn't my new GE Ranges oven cook like my old one?
    • W
      William PottsSep 12, 2025
Your new GE Ranges oven may cook differently because it has a different cooking system. Carefully follow recipe times and temperatures for the first few uses. If you still think your new oven is too hot or too cold, you can adjust the temperature yourself to meet your specific cooking preference. See the Special Features section. Note that this adjustment affects Bake and Convection Bake temperatures but not Convection Roast, Broil, or Clean.
  • K

Why is there a “burning” or “oily” odor emitting from the vent of my new GE JS760?
    • M
      Misty VegaSep 13, 2025
A "burning" or "oily" odor from the vent of your new GE Ranges is normal and will disappear in time. To speed up the process, set a self-clean cycle for a minimum of 3 hours. Refer to the Cleaning the Oven section.
  • W
    William AlexanderSep 13, 2025
Why do the surface units on my GE Ranges cycle on and off frequently?
    • M
      Misty BoydSep 13, 2025
The surface units on your GE Ranges may cycle on and off frequently if you are using improper cookware. Use only flat cookware to minimize cycling.
  • A
    Allen RamosSep 13, 2025
Why does the DOOR LOCK flash in the display of my GE Ranges?
    • W
      William JoyceSep 13, 2025
If the DOOR LOCK is flashing in the display of your GE Ranges, the self-clean cycle has been selected, but the door is not closed. Close the oven door.
  • D
    Donna JonesSep 13, 2025
Why is there a strong odor coming from my GE JS760 Ranges oven?
    • M
      Mariah JacksonSep 14, 2025
If you notice a strong odor from your GE Ranges, it is likely due to the insulation around the inside of the oven, which is normal for the first few uses. This is temporary and will go away after several uses or a self-clean cycle.
