What to do if my GE Profile 1496508 Dryer doesn’t heat up?
    • K
      Kenneth YangAug 19, 2025
First, check your home's fuse or circuit breaker box and replace or reset both fuses/breakers. For gas models, ensure the gas shutoff at the dryer and the main shutoff are fully open. If you have an LP gas model, check that the tank isn't empty. Also, make sure you've selected a heat setting other than 'No heat'.

What to do if my GE Dryer doesn't start?
    • R
      Rebecca SalazarAug 21, 2025
First, ensure the control panel isn't 'asleep' by pressing the Power button. Check that the dryer is fully plugged into the outlet. Inspect the building’s fuse/circuit breaker box, replacing the fuse or resetting the breaker. Note that some electric dryers use two fuses/breakers. If using Delay Dry, ensure the dryer wasn't accidentally paused by pressing Start/Pause to restart the countdown.

What to do if my GE Profile 1496508 Dryer shakes or makes noise?
    • A
      Amy HoffmanAug 25, 2025
The dryer might be shaking or making noise because it is sitting unevenly. Move the dryer to an even floor space, or adjust the leveling legs as necessary until it is stable.

    • C
      castrojudyAug 27, 2025
Clean the lint filter. After cleaning, dry a load on an automatic cycle and verify that the light turns off.

Why is there lint on my clothes after drying in my GE Profile 1496508?
    • M
      Michael PachecoAug 28, 2025
Ensure you clean the lint screen before each load. Sort lint producers (like chenille) separately from lint collectors (like corduroy). Static electricity can attract lint, so consider methods to reduce static. Avoid overloading the dryer by separating large loads into smaller ones. Always empty all pockets before laundering clothes.

What to do if clothes are still wet and GE Profile 1496508 shut off after a short time?
    • S
      Stephanie GrahamAug 30, 2025
If the door was opened mid-cycle and a new load was added without selecting a new cycle, a dry cycle must be reselected. For small loads of 3 items or less, choose QUICK DRY or TIMED DRY. If only collars and waistbands are damp, use QUICK DRY or TIMED DRY. Ensure the dryer is level by moving it to an even floor space or adjusting the leveling legs.

Why are collars and waistbands still wet at end of cycle in my GE Dryer?
    • D
      David JohnsonSep 1, 2025
This happens because the dryness monitor senses that the body of the clothes is dry. Choose QUICK DRY or TIMED DRY to dry damp collars and waistbands.

Why is the load still damp when Dry dryness level was chosen on my GE Dryer?
    • R
      Ricardo RoySep 4, 2025
If the load consists of a mixture of heavy and light fabrics, choose Max Dry. Also, inspect and clean the exhaust system, as a blocked system can cause dampness.

Why does static occur in my GE Profile 1496508?
    • T
      Thomas MahoneySep 6, 2025
Static can occur if no fabric softener was used, or if clothes are being overdried; try using a fabric softener. Synthetics, permanent press, and blends are also prone to causing static; using a fabric softener may help.
