User Guide Electrical Line Shaft for ADV200 Page 14 of 72
For the Electrical Line Shaft application, the Fast Link card must be installed on all the slave axes and, as a
general rule, also on the master axis; some "mixed" configurations are however possible, for instance if the
master axis position reference comes from an encoder, the first slave axis can receive it using a card with a
double digital encoder input and thus send it via Fast Link to the other slave axes.
Figura 4. shows the Fast Link connection between a master drive and 3 slaves. The Master drive and the
Slave drives are fit with an encoder card and a Fast Link card.
Since each node of the Fast Link network can in turn re-transmit the entire data block received or immediately
replace one or more of the data in that block with its own data, both Equal Ranking and Chain configurations
are possible.
Example of parameterization of drives for electric line shaft in Equal Ranking configuration with physical master
encoder. The Electric Line Shaft application is present only on the slave drives.

Equal Ranking Configuration with Fast Link
Note: as shown in the example, Fast Link word configuration must be followed for the transmission of master
data to the slaves. The position “pos” must be transmitted on word 1 and the number of revolutions “rev” on
word 2.
Example of parameterization of drives for electric line shaft in Chain configuration.
See also: Figure 26. Fast Link Encoder.
System data:
Slave 1 and Slave 2 must follow the encoder
Slave 3 must follow physical slave 2
Configuration:
Slave 1 receives pos and rev (position and revolution) data from the master and controls the motor in
electric line shaft. It repeats the data received from the Master (5730 and 5732 = Null) to the next
slaves in the chain.
Slave 2 reads the master pos and rev data repeated by slave 1 and controls the motor in electric line
shaft. It replaces the pos and rev data received from slave 1 with its physical pos and rev data (5730
= E1 virt pos and 5732 = E1 virt rev) and sends them to the next slaves in the chain.
Slave 3 reads the physical pos and rev data of Slave 2 and controls the motor in electric line shaft.
