8 Operating the EPAC
8.1 Electric drive
The components of the electric pedal assistance and their operation are de-
scribed in the enclosed Bosch original operating instructions.
8.2 Gears
Your EPAC has a derailleur made by Shimano with so-called Rapidfire gear le-
vers. When the gear is changed, the chain is moved to a different sprocket.
The gear can only be changed while the bicycle is moving. The crankset must turn
in the direction of the drive.
Your gear shift has two levers. Lever A is used to shift to a larger chainring or
sprocket, lever B to a smaller chainring or sprocket.
The right-hand switch operates the rear derailleur.
Here switching to a larger sprocket results in a lower gear ratio (= lower gear).
The pedalling resistance becomes lower, you can only reach a lower speed,
but it is easier to climb hills.
