2-3 Installing the CPU
Read the ollowing guidelines beore you begin to install the CPU:
Make sure that the motherboard supports the CPU.
(Go to GIGABYTE's website or the latest CPU support list.)
Always turn o the computer and unplug the power cord rom the power outlet beore installing the
CPU to prevent hardware damage.
Locate the pin one o the CPU. The CPU cannot be inserted i oriented incorrectly.
Apply an even and thin layer o thermal grease on the surace o the CPU.
Do not turn on the computer i the CPU cooler is not installed, otherwise overheating and damage
o the CPU may occur.
Set the CPU host requency in accordance with the CPU specications. It is not recommended
that the system bus requency be set beyond hardware specications since it does not meet the
standard requirements or the peripherals. I you wish to set the requency beyond the standard
specications, please do so according to your hardware specications including the CPU, graphics
card, memory, hard drive, etc.
Installing the CPU
Completely lit up the CPU socket locking lever. Locate the pin one (denoted by a small triangle) o the CPU
socket and the CPU. Once the CPU is positioned into its socket, place one nger down on the middle o the
CPU, lowering the locking lever and latching it into the ully locked position.
Do not force the CPU int o the CPU socket before the CPU socket locking lever is lifted up,
or damage to the CPU an d CPU socket may occur.
