What to do if there is excessive wear of segments on my GÖLZ KB 200 Drill?

  Excessive wear of segments in your GÖLZ Drill can be caused by several factors. If you are using soft bonded segments, switch to segments one class harder bonded, or increase the RPM and reduce the feed compression. If the segments are too narrow, use a drill bit with wider segments or reduce feed. If the RPM is too low, shift to a higher gear. If the drill bit is deformed or out of true, change the drill bit and bring the worn drill bit for rebalancing. Also check the drill stem and adjust or replace it. If you're working with abrasive material, use segments one class harder bonded and increase the water flow and the speed. If there's poor water flow, increase it to remove abrasive slurry around segments.

  If your GÖLZ Drill bit is stuck, it could be due to loose material blocking the drill bit. Apply a wrench and rotate the drill bit in both directions while it is under tension. You can also disconnect the drill bit from the drill motor and drill over with a larger sized drill bit. Another cause could be that the drill rig was displaced during drilling. Disconnect the drill bit and remove it. Break and pull the core. Start again with improved fastening of the drill rig. If the drill hole is misaligned, drill over with a larger sized drill bit. Finally, a misaligned drill hole guidance of the drill rig could have too much clearance. Disconnect the drill rig and adjust the guidance. Start with a new hole or wash over, and do not enter the old drill hole.

  If the GÖLZ Drill bit is blunt, several factors could be the cause. It may be due to a hard bonded segment, in which case you should use segments one class softer bonded. If the segment surface is daubed with material sludge, increase the water flow and resharp the segments. If the segment surface is daubed with steel chips, reduce the speed, increase the water flow, and resharp the segments. If the drill bit is worn out, replace it with a new one. If diamond grains are pressed into the binding, sharpen the drill bit in a sharpening plate and work with low feed. If there is no free cut because of side wards wear-out of segments, replace the drill bit and have the drill motor spindle checked.
