Overview

This document describes an induction hob designed for efficient and comfortable cooking. It highlights the advantages of induction technology, including quick heating, precise temperature control, and ample space between cooking zones.

Function Description

The induction hob operates by generating a magnetic field that induces current in the base of compatible pans, thereby generating heat directly in the cookware. This method ensures that only the pan heats up, keeping the hob surface relatively cool and preventing food spills from burning on. The appliance features four cooking zones, each controlled by a dedicated power settings knob.

Key safety features are integrated into the hob, such as a residual heat indicator that shows which cooking zones are still hot after use, and a cooking-time limiter that automatically switches off zones after a set duration if forgotten. The hob also includes temperature safety mechanisms that continuously monitor the temperature of certain parts of the hob and the pan bottom, automatically reducing power to prevent overheating or boiling dry. In cases of severe overheating, an "E2" error code will appear, and the hob will switch off.

For enhanced safety, a child lock function is available. When activated, the hob cannot be switched on, and cooking zone settings cannot be changed. This feature is engaged by simultaneously turning the two left-hand side cooking zone knobs to position "A" when all zones are off, and is indicated by an "L" on the display.

Usage Features

The induction hob offers intuitive operation with rotating knobs for precise power control across nine levels.

Switching On and Power Setting: To begin cooking, place a pan on a cooking zone and turn the corresponding knob clockwise to the desired power level.

Switching Off: To turn off a cooking zone, simply rotate its knob back to the starting position (O).

Easy Cook Function: This function is ideal for quickly bringing food to a boil and then continuing to cook at a lower setting. To use, place a pan on a cooking zone, turn the knob anticlockwise or fully to the right until "A" appears on the display. Within 5 seconds, set the desired heat-through setting using the rotary knob. The display will alternately flash "A" and the set heat-through setting until the cooking time elapses, after which only the heat-through setting will be continuously shown. If no heat-through setting is selected within 5 seconds, the zone will turn off.

P (Power Boost) Setting: The "P" setting provides a power boost, primarily intended for rapidly boiling water. It is not recommended for heating butter, milk, or defrosting, as the high power can be excessive for these tasks.

Pan Compatibility: Induction cooking requires specific types of pans. Only pans with a thick, flat, iron base (minimum 2.25 mm) are suitable. Pans previously used on gas hobs are generally not suitable. Users can check pan compatibility using a magnet; if the magnet is attracted to the pan's base, it is suitable. Unsuitable materials include earthenware, stainless steel (unless specifically designed for induction), porcelain, copper, plastic, and aluminum. Care should be taken with enamelled sheet-steel pans, as enamel may chip or the base may warp if used incorrectly, especially when dry or at excessively high power levels. The minimum pan diameter for effective operation is 12 cm; smaller pans may not be recognized. Pressure cookers are highly compatible with induction hobs due to the rapid heating and immediate cessation of cooking when the zone is switched off.

Cooking Settings Guidelines: The manual provides general guidelines for various cooking tasks:

  • P and 9 settings: For quick boiling, shrinking greens, heating oil/fat, and bringing pressure cookers to pressure.
  • 8 setting: For searing meats, frying flatfish, omelettes, boiled potatoes, and deep-frying.
  • 7 setting: For frying thick pancakes, thick slices of breaded meat, bacon, raw potatoes, making French toast, and frying breaded fish.
  • 6 and 5 settings: For completing the cooking of large quantities, defrosting hard vegetables, and frying thin slices of breaded meat.
  • 1-4 settings: For simmering bouillon, stewing meats, simmering vegetables, melting chocolate, and melting cheese.

Maintenance Features

The induction hob is designed for easy cleaning, as food spills do not burn onto the relatively cool glass surface.

Daily Cleaning: It is recommended to clean the hob immediately after use. A damp cloth with a mild cleaning agent is suitable for daily cleaning, followed by drying with kitchen paper or a dry teacloth.

Stubborn Stains: Stubborn stains can be removed with a mild cleaning agent like washing-up liquid. Vinegar can be used to remove water marks and lime scale. Metal marks, often caused by sliding pans, may require special cleaning agents. A glass scraper is effective for removing food spills, melted plastic, and sugar.

What Not to Use: Abrasive cleaners should be avoided as they can cause scratches where dirt and lime scale can accumulate. Sharp objects, steel wool, or scourers should also not be used for cleaning.

Before cleaning, it is advisable to set the child lock to prevent accidental activation.
