Overview

The document describes the GOTRAX GXL V2 Electric Scooter, providing a user manual for assembly, operation, and maintenance.

The GOTRAX GXL V2 is an electric scooter designed for personal transportation. It comes partially assembled and requires some initial setup before use. The scooter is intended for riders who are at least 13 years old, and riders under 18 years of age should obtain parental permission before riding. Safety is a key focus, with warnings about wearing a helmet, checking the battery, adhering to local road laws, and avoiding riding under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Riders are also advised to respect pedestrians and avoid riding in wet conditions, as this can be dangerous and may damage the electronics, voiding the warranty.

Function Description

The GOTRAX GXL V2 Electric Scooter is a personal electric vehicle that allows users to travel by standing on a platform and controlling speed with a throttle. It features a hub motor for propulsion and a handbrake for slowing down or stopping. The scooter is designed for use on smooth surfaces such as carparks, roads, footpaths, and bike lanes.

Usage Features

  • Assembly: The scooter requires some assembly. Users need to press down on the rear fender, separate the folding hook and fender buckle, and lift the tiller upright until it locks. An Allen wrench is used to loosen screws, detach the hook, and remove a cover from the top of the tiller. The console is then placed into the top of the tiller. A cord attached to the hook needs to be brought to the front of the tiller, and the handbrake pulled to insert a round metal piece into an opening, stringing a small silver cord through the solid piece of the handbrake. The metal piece on the red cord must be fully pushed into the handbrake. Finally, the red cord and hook are brought back behind the tiller, and the hook is reattached using screws and an Allen wrench, ensuring the red cord goes around the tiller.
  • Charging: Before first use, the scooter's battery must be fully charged. To charge, the rubber charging port cover is opened, and the charging plug is inserted. The charger box will display a red light during charging and a green light when fully charged. After charging, the port cover should be closed to protect against dust and debris. Charging should occur within a temperature range of 32 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Powering On/Off: To power the scooter on, the red button is pressed and held for 1 second. To power it off, the red button is pressed and held for 5 seconds.
  • Headlight Control: The headlight can be turned on or off by pressing the red button for 1 second while the scooter is powered on.
  • Console Display: The scooter's console displays speed (in MPH by default), battery life, and headlight status.
  • Speed Unit Switching: While the scooter is powered on, pressing the power button 3 times will switch the speed unit display between MPH and km/h.
  • Riding Initiation: To start riding, the user places one foot on the platform and uses the other foot to push off the ground. Simultaneously, the throttle button is pressed to begin movement.
  • Braking: The handbrake is used to slow down or stop the scooter.
  • Cruise Control: Cruise control can be activated by pressing the right-hand throttle down for 10 seconds. To deactivate it, either the right-hand throttle or the brake button can be pressed.
  • Folding/Unfolding: Before folding, the scooter must be powered off. To fold, the tiller is held, the spring pin on the right folding panel is pulled out, and the spring pin is rotated counterclockwise. The hook on the tiller is then inserted into the loop on the rear fender buckle until a click is heard, indicating it's locked. To unfold, the rear fender is pressed, and the tiller is pulled up until the spring pin inserts itself into the folding lever, locking the mechanism.

Maintenance Features

  • Cleaning: Regular cleaning helps extend the scooter's life. If the scooter is dirty, it should be wiped clean with a soft, damp cloth. Alcohol, gasoline, kerosene, or other corrosive chemical solvents should not be used, as they can damage the scooter's appearance and structure. Pressure washers should also be avoided as they can damage electronics.
  • Brake Adjustments & Service: If brake adjustments or other service are needed, users should contact the customer service team. Attempting repairs independently can void the warranty and risk damaging the scooter.
  • Tire Pressure: If tire pressure is low, the tires should be filled to the recommended PSI, which is 50.
  • Storage: When not in use, the scooter should be stored in a dry and cool location. Outdoor storage should be avoided as sun exposure can damage its appearance and reduce the life of the battery and tires.
  • Tightening the Tiller: If the tiller feels loose or wiggles during riding, the screws can be tightened. This involves opening the plastic cover and using an Allen wrench to secure the screws.
  • Battery Information: Only the approved Gotrax power adapter should be used for charging to prevent fire risk and equipment damage. Improper disposal of used batteries can pollute the environment, so local disposal regulations must be followed. The scooter and power adapter should be stored within a temperature range of -4 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit. Prolonged exposure to UV rays, rain, and other elements can damage enclosed materials, so the scooter should be stored indoors when not in use.
  • Troubleshooting & Warranty: The user manual is frequently updated online at gotrax.com. For problems or detailed information, customers should contact the customer service team at gotrax.com. Warranty information is available at www.gotrax.com.
