Roadside Emergency
A roadside emergency can happen at any time. ALWAYS carry
an emergency kit with three red warning signs (or indicators)
to display if necessary.
If you must make an emergency roadside stop:
• Pull o the road as far as possible.
• Turn ON the hazard warning flashers (or hazard lights)
to alert other drivers.
• The hazard warning flashers warn passing drivers to
approach and overtake your vehicle with caution.
Use the three red warning indicators (Signs, Reflectors,
Lanterns, or Road Flares) as follows:
1. Place the 1st indicator 10 feet behind the RV
on the o-door side (road side).
2. Place the 2nd indicator 100 feet behind the RV
in the center of the lane.
3. Place the 3rd indicator 100 feet in front of the RV
in the center of the lane.
• 10 feet = 4 paces, 100 feet = 40 paces
• Curves and/or hills may aect the safe placement
of the warning indicators.
FOR YOUR PERSONAL SAFETY in the event
of a roadside emergency, ALWAYS STAND:
• OFF of the road, and
• AWAY from any traffic.
