Check Engine Oil Level
1. Remove dipstick from tube by
unscrewing it. Wipe it clean.
2. Install dipstick and allow the cap to rest
on the end of the tube. Do not tighten
the cap.
3. Remove dipstick. Check oil level on
dipstick; oil level should be between the
ADD and FULL marks.
• If oil is low, add oil to bring oil level no
higher than the FULL mark on dipstick.
• If oil level is above the FULL mark,
drain to proper level.
4. Install and tighten dipstick.
Install Discharge Chute
Remove the thumbscrew (A) retaining the
discharge chute in the transport position.
Place the discharge chute in the operating
position and fasten in place with thumbscrew.
Check Tire Pressure
1. Check tires for damage.
2. Check rear tire pressure with an
accurate gauge. Add air if necessary.
See SPECIFICATIONS on page 39 for
tire pressure.
Lubricate Unit
Lubricate all moving parts before operating
the unit. See Lubrication Points on page 18.
Check Mower Deck Level
The mower deck is assembled and adjusted
at the factory. After unit is completely
assembled, check the mower front-to-rear
and side-to-side deck level.
Check Safety System
Check the operation of the safety interlock
system. See Test Operator Presence Safety
Interlock System on page 12.

CAUTION: Avoid injury!
Explosive separation of tire and
rim parts is possible when they
are serviced incorrectly:
• Do not attempt to mount a
tire without the proper
equipment and experience
to perform the job.
• Do not inflate the tires
above the recommended
pressure.
• Do not weld or heat a
wheel and tire assembly.
Heat can cause an
increase in air pressure
resulting in an explosion.
Welding can structurally
weaken or deform the
wheel.
• Do not stand in front or
over the tire assembly
when inflating. Use a clip-
on chuck and extension
hose long enough to allow
you to stand to one side.
