This document describes the Grundig Digital Blood Pressure Monitor (Model No.: BP101U), a fully automatic upper arm style device designed for measuring blood pressure and pulse rate in adults.
Function Description
The Grundig Digital Blood Pressure Monitor utilizes the oscillometric method to measure blood pressure. This means it detects the movement of blood through the brachial artery and converts it into a digital reading. The unit is simple to use, eliminating the need for a stethoscope. It automatically stores 2x90 sets of measurement values, which can be conveniently retrieved by pressing the memory button. The device is intended for use in measuring blood pressure and pulse rate for adults only and is not recommended for neonatal babies at home or in medical centers.

Usage Features
Before Taking a Measurement:
- Avoid eating, drinking alcohol, smoking, exercising, and bathing for 30 minutes prior to measurement. Allow 5 minutes to elapse before the first reading.
- Avoid taking measurements during stressful times; relax and do not talk during the procedure.
- The cuff can be applied to either the left or right arm, but always measure on the same arm for consistency.
- Measurements should be taken in a quiet place with the unit positioned at heart level.
- Keep a record of readings for your physician. Multiple readings over time provide a more accurate indication of true blood pressure.
- Wait 30-60 seconds between measurements to allow arteries to return to their prior condition.
How to Use the Arm Cuff:
- Ensure the air plug is properly inserted into the main unit.
- Remove all clothes from your upper arm so the cuff fits directly on the skin.
- Sit in a chair with your feet flat on the floor, placing your arm on a table to level the cuff with your heart.
- Pass the end of the cuff through the metal ring, keeping the hose outward.
- Put your arm through the loop, then pull it up to position it on your upper arm.
- The hose should run down the inside of your arm, with the bottom of the cuff approximately 1-2cm above your elbow.
- Wrap the cuff properly around your upper arm, allowing no more than a 2-finger gap.
- Relax your upper arm, keep your palm upward, and your fingers curving naturally, then turn on the unit and start to measure.
How to Take a Measurement:
- Press the START/STOP button. All display symbols will appear, and the cuff will automatically inflate.
- Inflation stops automatically, and the measurement begins. The heartbeat symbol flashes with each detected pulse.
- Once completed, blood pressure and pulse rate are displayed. The cuff deflates automatically, and results are stored in memory with date and time. An "IHB" symbol will appear if an irregular heartbeat is detected.
- Press START/STOP to turn off the unit. The unit will automatically turn off after 2 minutes if left idle.
- To stop inflation or measurement at any time, press START/STOP; the unit will stop inflating and release air.
Memory Function:
- The unit stores blood pressure and pulse rate in memory, automatically storing up to 90 sets of values. The oldest record is deleted to save the latest measurement.
- The unit calculates an average reading based on the latest 3 measurements.
- To read the average value, press the MEM button.
- To display measurement values, press MEM to view the latest measurement, then SET to view older records. Long press SET for quick changes.
Unit Setting (kPa or mmHg):
- Long press the memory button for 3-4 seconds until the units displayed on the unit power off.
To Delete the Memory Value:
- In memory reading mode, press the "SET" Memory button for 4-6 seconds.
- Press "SET" Memory button again, and the LCD will display "dEL no".
- To delete all data for a specific user, press START/STOP. The corresponding user's data will be deleted.
- Note: If you have set "dEL YES" but do not press a button for 2 minutes, the product will shut off automatically, but the corresponding user's blood pressure data will not be deleted. The delete operation must be confirmed by the user.
Battery Installation/Replacement:
- Remove the battery cover from the battery compartment.
- Install 3 "AA" size batteries, ensuring correct positive (+) and negative (-) polarities.
- Replace the battery cover.
- Do not use rechargeable batteries.
- Use three identical 1.5V alkaline batteries (AA/LR06).
- Replace both batteries if the low battery symbol appears.
- Remove batteries if the unit will not be used for three months or more to prevent leakage and damage.
- Dispose of used batteries according to national regulations.
Adjusting Settings (Date/Time/Unit/User):
- To Set Year: Press the "SET" button. The year flashes. Press "MEM" to increase the year. Long press "SET" to confirm and continue. The year can be set between 2015 and 2050.
- To Set Date & Time: Press "MEM" to change month, then "SET" to confirm. Repeat for day, hour, and minute.
- To Set 12 Hour or 24 Hour: Press "MEM" to change between 12-hour or 24-hour format. Press "SET" to confirm.
- To Set Unit: Press "MEM" to change the unit (mmHg or kPa). Press "START/STOP" to save and turn off.
- To Set User: Press "SET" to display the user mark, then "SET" again to change the user. Press "START/STOP" to confirm and turn off.
Maintenance Features
Troubleshooting & Maintenance:
- Error Indicators:
- "Err" (inflating error): Wrap cuff correctly and tightly. Ensure air plug connection. Inflate again.
