Handlebar Security
Before riding the bike, test to
determine whether the handlebars are
secure:
Stand facing the bike and straddle the front
wheel.
On a racing, drop-style bar - hold the
brake-levers and slowly apply weight to until
your feet lift off the floor. The handlebar
should not move.
On a flat handlebar - slowly apply body
weight to handlebars (if installed, handlebar
ends) until your feet lift off the floor. The
handlebar (and bar-ends) should not move.
With either design, if the handlebar slips,
increase the torque to the upper torque
value specified on the stem/bar and test
again. DO NOT exceed upper limit of torque
range.
If the bars still move, contact your retailer or
call 1-800- BIKEUSA for further assistance.
DO NOT RIDE THE BIKE.
Figure. No Movement Test
