Usage Features
The OmniTouch 5.7 offers a range of interactive features for system management:
- List Boxes: Selectable items like units, zones, buttons, and temperatures are displayed in list boxes. You can select an item by touching it directly or by using the [up arrow] or [down arrow] buttons to scroll. The [enter] button confirms your selection. [Page up] and [page down] buttons allow for navigation through groups of items. Holding these buttons enables faster scrolling.
- Security Arming and Disarming: From the Security page, you can arm or disarm your system. If "Quick Arm" is enabled, touching a security mode button immediately initiates arming. Disarming or arming from one mode to another, or arming from a disarmed state when "Quick Arm" is disabled, requires a four-digit code entered via a keypad display.
- Auto Bypass: If enabled, the system automatically bypasses open zones when arming security. If disabled, the touchscreen will indicate "System Not Armed – Zone(s) Not Ready" if zones are open, prompting you to secure them before retrying.
- Silencing Alarms: To disarm the security system after an alarm or during an entry delay, simply press the [Disarm] button and enter your code. This action disarms burglar alarms, resets emergency alarms, and silences sirens.
- Multi-Area Security: For systems with multiple security areas, you can arm or disarm individual areas or all areas from the Security page by first selecting the desired area using the [Area] button. A Master code or a code valid for the selected area is required.
- More Options (Security): The [More Options] button on the Security page provides access to bypass and restore zones, activate emergency alarms, and navigate to different areas.
- Emergency Keys: If enabled, emergency alarms (Police, Fire, Auxiliary) can be activated by pressing and holding the respective buttons for approximately one second. These keys are always armed.
- GOTO Function: For multi-area systems, the [GOTO] button allows you to temporarily assign the touchscreen to a different area. All security and control commands will then operate on the selected area. A valid code for the area is required.
- Status Page: The Status page provides real-time information on system items, zones, security mode, energy cost, outdoor temperature, and sunrise/sunset times. It also allows control, viewing, and editing of programs for lighting and temperature devices.
- Unit Status: Touching the [Control] or [Temperature] icon on the Status page displays the status of individual control and temperature devices. You can change a device's status, view its controlling programs, and edit selected programs.
- Program Management: The [Program] button allows you to view all programs controlling a selected device. A code is required to view or edit programs. Programs can be modified or deleted, with a confirmation step for deletion.
- Zone Status: The [Zones] icon displays the current status of each zone. Secure zones are green, "not ready" zones are red, and "trouble" zones are yellow.
- Test Function: The [Test] icon allows you to check the status of the battery, telephone, bell circuit, auxiliary fuse, and security zone loop readings, mimicking an HAI console.
- Touchscreen Setup: This section allows configuration of the touchscreen's operating parameters, including brightness, contrast, ambient setting, backlight on time, sounder, key click, and volume. It also displays firmware and screen versions.
- Program Creation: The "Program" pages enable the creation and editing of basic automation programs for lighting and temperatures. After entering a code, you can define when a program activates (specific time, day(s), or security mode change) and what command it executes (e.g., control a light, appliance, or thermostat).
- Video Viewing: When an HAI video encoder is installed, the Video page displays live video from a selected camera. You can switch between up to six cameras, adjust brightness and contrast, and view video in full screen. Touching the video window toggles between windowed and full-screen views.
- Macro Activation via Video: While viewing video, pressing and holding a camera selection button for two seconds can activate a predefined macro in the HAI controller, such as activating an electric door strike.
- Event Triggered Video: The system can be programmed to automatically display video on a touchscreen, even if idle, when specific events occur (e.g., doorbell rings, motion detected). This video can be full screen, and macros can be triggered from this view.
Maintenance Features
The OmniTouch 5.7 includes features that support system maintenance and optimal performance:
- Self-Configuration: The touchscreen automatically configures itself based on the HAI controller's programming, reducing manual setup and maintenance efforts when system changes occur.
- Remote Reprogramming: The ability to view and edit programs directly from the touchscreen allows for convenient remote reprogramming of your system.
- Ambient Setting: This feature automatically adjusts the touchscreen's brightness and contrast based on room lighting, optimizing visibility and potentially extending screen life. The "light" setting is for illuminated rooms, and the "dark" setting is for darkened rooms. The system maintains the "light" setting for 30 seconds after the room darkens before dimming.
- Backlight On Time: You can set the duration the touchscreen display remains illuminated after the last touch, with a setting of "0" for always-on (not recommended) or 1-15 minutes. This helps manage power consumption and screen longevity.
- Sounder and Key Click Control: The sounder alerts you to errors, troubles, messages, and entry/exit delays. Key clicks provide audible feedback when buttons are pressed. Both can be enabled or disabled, and their volume adjusted, allowing for customization based on user preference and environment.
- Clean Screen Function: The "Clean Screen" page allows you to clean the touchscreen display without accidentally activating buttons. This is useful for maintaining a clear and responsive screen. After cleaning with a soft damp cloth, pressing and holding the "Restore" button for three seconds returns to the Home page.
- Firmware and Screens Version Display: The touchscreen can display its firmware and screens version, which is helpful for troubleshooting and ensuring the device is up-to-date.
- Power Failure Handling: In the event of an AC power failure, if the HAI controller is running on backup battery power, the touchscreen display will automatically lower to its lowest viewable setting to conserve power. It will automatically return to its correct settings once AC power is restored. This ensures continued basic functionality during power outages without user intervention.
- Video Brightness and Contrast Saving: Adjustments to video brightness and contrast for a specific camera can be saved by touching the camera selection button again or selecting another camera. This ensures that preferred viewing settings are retained. If changes are temporary, pressing the [exit] button discards them.
