IMPORTANT:
The cross-sectional area is only for guidance. If there is a considerable distance between the
solar panels and the charge controller, or between the charge controller and the battery,
it is better to choose a larger cross-sectional area to get a lower voltage drop and better
performance.
The recommended battery cable area applies on the assumption that no extra inverter is
connected to battery.
INSTALLATION
WARNING!
Risk of explosion. The charge controller must not be installed together with wet cell batteries
in an enclosed and unventilated area or other area where gas can accumulate.
Electrical safety. When connecting the cables to solar panels the solar panels can generate a
high open circuit voltage. Always switch o the power switch before connecting the cables
and exercise due caution.
Make sure that there is at least 150 mm of free space over the charge controller to ensure a
sucient air ow.
Separate ventilation should be arranged for installation in enclosed areas.
INSTALLATION
Choice of installation area with sucient cooling
The charge controller should be installed so that there is a sucient air ow through its cooling ns.
At least 150 mm of free space is required over and under and on each side the charge controller to
ensure sucient inherent convection.
Free installation space, 150 mm on all sides – see diagram.
FIG. 6
IMPORTANT:
If the charge controller is going to be installed in a cabinet or other enclosed area there must be
reliable ventilation from the cabinet.
Connection of main components
Connect in the following order: battery - consumer/load - solar panel. Disconnect in the reverse order.
1. Battery
2. Consumer/load
3. Solar panel
