RUN CURVES AND MAXIMUM POWER
Depending on the surrounding conditions, e.g. cloudy weather, shadows from trees or snow on the
panel, the panel can seemingly nd several MPPs. In actual fact there is, however, only one true MPP.
FIG. 4
SEVERAL APPARENTLY MAXIMUM POWER POINTS
If the programme is not working properly after detecting several maximum power points the system
will not nd and work in the true maximum power point. This means that the system is not utilising
all of the available solar power, which considerably reduces the performance of the system. The MPPT
algorithm we have developed quickly and precisely nds the true maximum power point and fully
utilises the sunlight and solar panel.
BATTERY CHARGING STAGE
In order for the battery charging to take place quickly, eectively and safely the charge controller has
3 charging stages: bulk charging → equalisation charging → oat charging.
1. Battery voltage
2. Equalisation
3. Top
4. Maintenance
5. Recharging
6. Bulk charging
7. Constant voltage charging
