3. Remove frozen goods. Wrap tightly in
newspaper and place in a laundry bas-
ket in a cool place. You can also use the
fridge.
4. Remove freezer drawers.
5. Place a bowl of hot, but not boiling, wa-
ter in the freezer compartment. This will
accelerate the defrosting process.
6. Leave the door of the freezer compart-
ment open during defrosting. Place a
floor cloth in front of the appliance to ab-
sorb any escaping thaw water. The de-
frosting time depends on the thickness
of the ice layer. From experience you
can start cleaning the freezer compart-
ment after approx. 1 hour.
7. Wash freezer drawers in warm water with
a washing-up liquid. Dry thoroughly.
8. Wipe the interior with warm water and
washing-up liquid. When wiping clean,
add a few drops of vinegar to the water
to prevent mould from forming. Dry thor-
oughly.
9. The seals of the door are sensitive to oil
and grease. Only clean with clean water.
Dry thoroughly.
10. After cleaning rub-dry everything thor-
oughly, including the door seal, and
leave to air for a while.
11. Reconnect the mains plug and turn the
temperature control knob to level “6” or
“7”.
12. Replace frozen goods.
13. As soon as a temperature of -18°C has
been reached, turn the temperature con-
trol knob back to its usual position.
Checking and cleaning the
door seals
Check door seals regularly to ensure that no
warm air enters the appliance.
1. To test, clamp a thin piece of paper in var-
ious places. The paper should be difficult
to pull through at all points.
2. If the seal is not uniform everywhere:
Carefully warm the seal at the appropriate
places with a hair dryer and pull out a little
with your fingers.
3. Clean contaminated seals with clean wa-
ter only.
