Programming Radios
• The next step is to program the radios. The steps vary
depending on the radio type.
•The AN/PRC-117F is programmed directly from the CPA. Meaning that the radio
is connected to the computer running the CPA and the network information is
loaded directly to each system preset. Whereas the AN/PRC-117G is not
programmed directly. It uses Mission Plan files created by the CPA that must be
transferred into the radios temporary memory, loaded into permanent memory,
and then activated. The AN/PRC-117G can have multiple Mission Plan files
loaded into is permanent memory but only one can be activated at a time.
• The AN/PRC-117G doesn’t even need to be connected to the CPA computer to
have a Mission Plan file transferred to it. The Mission Plan files can be saved to
disk or emailed to the radios’ operator and transferred from any computer with a
usable USB port. When connected to a computer using the USB programming
cable, the radio will appear as a USB memory device. The mission Plan file can
be copied and pasted just like any other USB memory device.
• Right click on a radio or radios and select Program, the Generate Mission Plans
window will open.
