ELECTRICAL
DOUBLE INSULATION
Doubleinsulationisaconceptinsafetyinelectricpower
tools,which eliminatestheneedfortheusualthree-wire
groundedpowercord.Allexposedmetalpartsareisolated
fromthe internalmetal motor componentswithprotect-
inginsulation.Doubleinsulated tools donotneed to be
grounded.
WARNING:
The double insulated system is intended to protect
theuserfromshockresultingfromabreakinthetool’s
internalwiring.Observeallnormalsafetyprecautions
toavoidelectricalshock.
NOTE:Servicingofaproductwithdoubleinsulationrequires
extremecareandknowledgeofthesystemandshouldbe
performedonlybyaqualifiedservicetechnician.Forservice,
wesuggestyoureturnthetooltoyournearestauthorized
servicecenterforrepair.Alwaysuseoriginalfactoryreplace-
mentpartswhenservicing.
ELECTRICAL CONNECTION
Thistoolhasaprecision-builtelectricmotor.Itshouldbe
connected to a power supply that is 120 V, AC only (nor-
mal household current), 60 Hz.Donotoperatethistoolon
directcurrent(DC).Asubstantialvoltagedropwillcausea
lossofpowerandthemotorwilloverheat.Ifthetooldoes
notoperatewhenpluggedintoanoutlet,doublecheckthe
powersupply.
EXTENSION CORDS
Whenusingapowertoolataconsiderabledistancefrom
apowersource,besuretouseanextensioncordthathas
thecapacitytohandlethecurrenttheproductwilldraw.An
undersizedcordwillcauseadropinlinevoltage,resultingin
overheatingandlossofpower.Usethecharttodetermine
theminimumwiresizerequiredinanextensioncord.Only
roundjacketedcordslistedbyUnderwriter’sLaboratories
(UL)shouldbeused.
Whenworkingoutdoorswithaproduct,useanextension
cordthatisdesignedforoutsideuse.Thistypeofcordis
designatedwith“WA”or“W”onthecord’sjacket.
Beforeusing any extensioncord, inspect it forlooseor
exposedwiresandcutorworninsulation.

WARNING:
Keep the extension cord clear of the working area.
Position the cord so that it will not get caught on
lumber, tools, or other obstructions while you are
workingwithapowertool.Failuretodosocanresult
inseriouspersonalinjury.
WARNING:
Checkextensioncordsbeforeeachuse.Ifdamaged
replaceimmediately.Neverusetoolwithadamaged
cordsince touchingthedamaged areacould cause
electricalshockresultinginseriousinjury.
