Why is my Hayward Water Filtration Systems running at high pressures?
    • S
      Sara FisherAug 12, 2025
High pressure in Hayward Water Filtration Systems can occur if the D.E. is coated with dirt or algae, if there's an overcharge of D.E., or if there's a restriction in the return line due to a small eyeball fitting or a partially closed valve. Try bumping the system, bumping-draining-recharging, changing to a larger fitting, or opening the valve.

What to do if I notice a drop off of return flow in my Hayward Perflex EC50C90 Water Filtration Systems?
    • M
      moyerjacobAug 16, 2025
A drop in return flow in Hayward Water Filtration Systems can happen if the D.E. is coated with dirt or algae, the pump strainer or skimmer basket is clogged, the pump impeller vanes are clogged, there's an air leak on the suction side of the pump, or the electric motor isn't running at maximum speed. Try bumping the system, cleaning the baskets, cleaning the impeller vanes (using a stiff wire brush or disassembling), checking for air leaks and tightening connections, or consulting the pump and motor troubleshooting guide.

Why does my Hayward Perflex EC50C90 have short cycles?
    • T
      Tammy ChoiAug 20, 2025
Short cycles in Hayward Water Filtration Systems can occur if the D.E. is loaded with dirt or algae, if you're bumping incorrectly, if the bump handle is bent, if the pump output exceeds the filter's design flow rate, or if there's algae present. Try bumping-draining-recharging, slowing down the bumping stroke, checking and straightening the bump handle, checking and regulating the pump output, or super-chlorinating and bumping-draining-recharging as needed.

What causes very short cycles when vacuuming with my Hayward Water Filtration Systems?
    • L
      Lindsay JohnsonAug 25, 2025
Very short cycles when vacuuming with a Hayward Water Filtration Systems may be due to very dirty water, live algae, or the presence of alum or flocking agents. Bump-drain-recharge more often, add chlorine to control algae growth before vacuuming, and bypass the filter when vacuuming if flocking agents are present, avoiding their use if possible.

What to do if my Hayward Perflex EC50C90 Water Filtration Systems has short cycles even after proper Bump-Drain-Recharge?
    • R
      robertgarzaAug 28, 2025
If your Hayward Water Filtration Systems experiences short cycles even after a proper Bump-Drain-Recharge, it might be due to contaminated Flex-Tube braids. This can be caused by chemical deposits, running the D.E. charge too long with algae, or operating the filter without D.E.. You can clean the tube nest by hosing it down and soaking it in a detergent solution, or by using a muriatic acid solution (or filter cleaner).

Why is D.E. leaking to pool via the return lines in my Hayward Perflex EC50C90?
    • C
      christine71Aug 31, 2025
D.E. leaking into the pool from your Hayward Water Filtration Systems can be caused by an opening or tear in the Flex-Tubes, a rip or hole in the diaphragm gasket, a worn or loose fitting diaphragm gasket, or loose bolts on the tube nest plates. To resolve this, replace the Flex-Tube or gasket, or tighten the bolts.

What causes hard bumping in my Hayward Water Filtration Systems?
    • D
      David JonesSep 4, 2025
Hard bumping in Hayward Water Filtration Systems can be caused by caking of D.E. under the tube sheet, being overloaded with D.E., or running the filter too long between bumping. Try bumping-draining-recharging more often, reducing the use of oils, and ensuring the proper amount of D.E. is used. Also, bump more frequently.

Why is D.E. leaking back to pool via skimmer or main drain in my Hayward Perflex EC50C90 Water Filtration Systems?
    • M
      Michele AndrewsSep 8, 2025
D.E. leaking back to the pool via the skimmer or main drain in Hayward Water Filtration Systems is caused by a filter check valve that is worn or stuck open. Clean and/or replace the valve.
