Overview

This document is the owner's manual for the Healthstream HS16TM treadmill, providing comprehensive information on its function, technical specifications, usage, and maintenance.

Function Description

The Healthstream HS16TM is a motorized treadmill designed for home use, enabling users to perform cardiovascular and muscle fitness exercises. It features a control panel with an LCD window that displays various exercise parameters such as calories burned, speed, pulse, incline, and distance. The treadmill offers multiple operational modes, including manual control, pre-set programs, and user-defined programs, allowing for a customized workout experience. It also incorporates a safety key mechanism that immediately stops the treadmill in case of an emergency. The incline function allows users to simulate uphill walking or running, increasing the intensity of their workout.

Important Technical Specifications

The manual provides a table of contents that outlines the various sections covered, including safety, warm-up and cool-down, unpacking and assembly, folding instructions, incline manual, computer operations, belt adjustment, care and maintenance, lubrication maintenance, trouble shooting, exploded drawing, and parts list.

  • Computer Operations:

    • Window Display: 1 LCD window.
    • CALORIES: Indicates estimated calories burnt.
    • PULSE: Estimated heart rate.
    • INCLINE: Indicates incline in percent of grade in 1% increments.
    • DISTANCE: Indicates km travelled in 0.1 increment.
    • TIME: Indicates time you workout, can be set to countdown.
    • START: Start the treadmill.
    • SPEED: Indicates kph in 0.1 increment.
    • STOP: Stop the treadmill.
    • Mode: Enter programs selection, enter time setting, push 3 seconds for scanning.
    • Prog: Press Prog button and choose from "1.0" manual mode to "P1-P12", "U01-U02", "HRC" and then manual normal model.
    • Mode: When the treadmill is not running, press the mode button to choose countdown modes: TIME, DISTANCE and CALORIES and then normal model.
    • ONE-TOUCH SPEED 3,6,9,12: Used to reach ideal speed.
    • ONE-TOUCH INCLINE 3,6,9,12: Used to reach ideal incline.
  • Belt Adjustment: The running belt tension can be increased or decreased by turning the rear roller bolts. The centering of the running belt can be adjusted using the rear roller bolts.

  • Incline: The treadmill features an incline function, controlled by "INCLINE+" and "INCLINE-" buttons on the left handrail, or by pressing incline shortcut keys on the console while the treadmill is running.

  • Heart Rate Monitoring: The manual includes a "Target Heart Rate Zone" chart based on age, allowing users to monitor their heart rate during exercise to achieve optimal fitness results. The target heart rate zone is calculated as 0.6 to 0.75 times the maximum heart rate (220 minus age).

  • Body Fat Test: The treadmill includes a body fat test function where users input sex, age, height, and weight. The computer then calculates the body mass index (BMI) and provides a body fat percentage.

Usage Features

  • Safety Precautions: The manual emphasizes important safety instructions, including consulting a physician before starting any exercise program, keeping children and pets away from the treadmill, wearing appropriate footwear, and operating the treadmill on a stable, level surface. It also warns against using an extension cord and advises to remove the safety key when not in use.

  • Warm-up & Cool-down: A detailed warm-up and cool-down exercise program is provided, including head rolls, shoulder lifts, side stretches, inner thigh stretch, toe touches, quadriceps stretch, hamstrings stretches, and calf/achilles stretch, each with specific instructions and recommended durations.

  • Assembly: The manual provides step-by-step instructions for unpacking and assembling the treadmill, including an exploded drawing and a parts list to ensure correct assembly. It highlights potential pinch points during assembly and advises checking all parts before proceeding.

  • Folding and Unfolding: The treadmill can be folded for storage to save space. The folding instruction involves lifting the machine deck until the safety casing locks into the pneumatic cylinder. Unfolding involves pushing the deck slightly forward and down on the center of the pneumatic cylinder, allowing the deck to slowly fall to the floor.

  • Program and Start Instruction:

    • Manual Program: Allows users to set time, distance, and calories.
    • Pre-set Programs (P1-P12): Offer various speed and incline profiles over a set time interval (10 minutes, with every grade time being 1 minute).
    • User Programs (U1-U2): Allow users to define and save their own exercise programs.
    • HRC Program: Heart Rate Control program, where the treadmill adjusts speed and incline to maintain a target heart rate. Users set their age, and the treadmill calculates the target heart rate zone.
    • Quick Start: Allows users to start the treadmill immediately with initial speed 0.8km/h.
    • Safety Key Function: Pulling out the safety key immediately stops the treadmill.
  • Display Range of Numerical Value:

    • TIME: 0:00 – 99:00
    • DISTANCE: 0.00 – 99.9(KM)
    • CALORIES: 0.0 – 999(CAL)
    • SPEED: 1.0 – 16.0(KM/H)
    • INCLINE: 0-12%

Maintenance Features

  • Running Belt and Running Deck Lubrication: Regular lubrication of the running belt and running deck is crucial for the treadmill's longevity and smooth operation. The manual provides a lubrication schedule based on usage:

    • 1-6kph: Every 3 months
    • 6-12kph: Every 2 months
    • 12-16kph: Every 1 month It specifies using silicone lubricant and warns against excessive lubrication, which can cause slippage. Instructions are provided on how to spray silicone on the deck.
  • Belt Adjustment: The running belt tension should be adjusted regularly, especially during the break-in period. Instructions are provided for increasing and decreasing belt tension, as well as centering the running belt to prevent it from rubbing against the side rails.

  • Cleaning: The treadmill should be wiped clean from the console and treadmill surface after each workout. Care should be taken to avoid getting moisture on the display panel.

  • Storage: The treadmill should be stored in a clean and dry environment, with the master power switch off and unplugged from the electrical wall outlet.

  • Moving: The treadmill is equipped with wheels for easy mobility. Before moving, ensure the master power switch is in the off position and the power cord is unplugged.

  • Troubleshooting (Fault Code and Significance): The manual includes a section on fault codes and their significance, along with corresponding fault processing steps:

    • E1 (Normal Communication Fault): Indicates a communication error between the console and the controller. Solutions involve checking wire connections.
    • E2 (Motor Wire Connection Fault): Indicates an issue with the motor wire connection. Solutions involve checking the motor wire and contacting service if necessary.
    • E3 (No Speed Wireless Sensor/Magnetic): Indicates a problem with the speed sensor. Solutions involve checking the sensor and magnet, and ensuring correct installation.
