Jerk
The derivative of acceleration is referred to as jerk. A linear change
in acceleration causes a jerk step. Such motion sequences may
cause the machine to oscillate.
Jerk limiting
To prevent machine oscillations, the jerk is limited to attain
optimum path control.
Smoothed jerk
The jerk is smoothed by nominal position value filters. The
MANUALplus 620 therefore mills smooth surfaces at the highest
possible feed rate and yet keeps the contour accurate. The
operator programs the permissible tolerance in a cycle. Special
filters for HSC machining (HSC filters) can specifically suppress the
natural frequencies of an individual machine. The desired accuracy
and a very high surface quality are attained.
