Example: Setting a workpiece datum without the probing
function. See Fig. I.18 & Fig. I.19.
Working plane: XY
Tool axis: Z
Tool diameter: D = 3 mm
Axis sequence in this example: X - Y - Z
Preparation: Calling the tool data
Select the tool data for the tool which you are using to touch the
workpiece.
Preparation: Select the datum
Operating mode: ACTUAL VALUE
From ACTUAL VALUE mode, press the DATUM soft
key.
Cursor will be in the DATUM NUMBER field.
Enter the datum number and press ENT.
Touch the workpiece at edge 1.
Select the X axis key.
Enter the position of the tool center (X = – 1.5 mm)
and
transfer the X-coordinate of the datum and press ENT.
Touch the workpiece at edge 2.
Select the Y axis key.
