Why is my Hilti DSW 1510-CA wire breaking near the connector?
    • C
      Clifford CarterAug 18, 2025
Wire breakage right beside the connector can occur if the wire passes round a sharply angled corner on the object being cut. To solve this, install additional guide pulleys to reduce the angle of deflection. It can also happen because of material fatigue of the sawing wire due to excessively long usage and aging, in this case use a new sawing wire. Another reason may be material fatigue of the sawing wire due to excessive bending at the connector, reduce bending of the wire with articulated connectors.

What to do if the Hilti DSW 1510-CA wire jumps and oscillates severely?
    • J
      Jeremy WatkinsAug 21, 2025
If the sawing wire jumps and oscillates severely, it might be due to insufficient wire tension. Increase the wire tension to resolve this. Also, this can be caused by the guide pulleys being too far apart (unsupported length of wire is too long). Install additional pulley stands to reduce unsupported wire length, position the wire saw closer to where the cut is being made, or install a shorter sawing wire. Another reason may be that the grooves between the wire guides and pivoting pulleys are not in alignment with each other, so bring the pivoting guide pulleys into alignment with the relay pulleys.

Why is my Hilti Saw wire wearing excessively?
    • J
      johnsonjeffreyAug 26, 2025
Excessive sawing wire wear can be due to several factors. The cutting speed (wire drive speed) might be too low, so increase the drive speed or cutting speed. Inadequate cooling of the sawing wire can also be a cause, ensure sufficient water is reaching the cut. If the cutting or contact length is too short, increase the contact or cutting length. High wire tension relative to the length of cut can also lead to wear, so increase the length of cut and reduce tension on the wire. Finally, very abrasive material can cause excessive wear, so consider using different sawing wire specifications.

How to fix a slipping drive pulley on my Hilti Saw?
    • V
      Vanessa AveryAug 28, 2025
If the drive pulley slips or the wire isn't driven by the pulley, it could be due to insufficient wire tension. Try increasing the wire tension. Alternatively, the drive pulley may be too badly worn, in which case you should replace the drive pulley.

What causes uneven wear on my Hilti DSW 1510-CA wire?
    • N
      ncummingsAug 31, 2025
Uneven or one-sided wear of the sawing wire can occur if the diamond wire was not twisted before connecting the ends together. For each meter of length, twist the sawing wire approximately 1 to 1.5 turns counter-clockwise, as viewed toward the join. After each major cut, retwist the sawing wire with a different number of turns.

What to do if the Hilti Saw wire vibrates strongly?
    • V
      Valerie SchmidtSep 4, 2025
If the sawing wire vibrates very strongly at a high frequency, it could be because the wire tension is too high in relation to the length of cut. Increase the length of cut and reduce tension on the wire. Another reason may be wrong speed, so set the correct speed.

What causes the Hilti DSW 1510-CA wire to be pulled out of the connector?
    • A
      Annette LesterSep 7, 2025
If the sawing wire is pulled out of the connector, it may be because insufficient pressure was applied to the crimping pliers. Use a press crimping tool rated for at least 8 t. Another reason may be incorrect or worn crimping jaws, so check and, if necessary, replace the crimping jaws.

Why does the Hilti DSW 1510-CA wire jump off the pulley?
    • M
      Maria LeSep 12, 2025
If the wire jumps off the drive wheel or guide pulley when starting the saw, it could be because the starting lock was not used. Use the starting lock (lock the sleeve directly at the air cylinder). Another reason can be that the sawing wire is installed wrong way round, so check the sawing wire is installed for the correct direction of travel.

How to troubleshoot if my Hilti DSW 1510-CA wire doesn't start?
    • J
      Joanne JohnsonNov 14, 2025
If the wire saw doesn’t start, it could be due to several reasons. First, check if the edges of the structure are too sharp. If they are, use a suitable tool to round off the edges and manually bed the sawing wire into the material to be cut. Another reason can be that a new sawing wire jams in a kerf made by a worn sawing wire. In this case, complete the cut with the worn sawing wire or use a thinner sawing wire. Drill another hole that can be used to draw the new sawing wire into position. Also, if the sawing-wire-to-concrete contact length is excessive, install more guide pulleys or release pulleys. If the tension on the wire is too high, reduce it by adjusting the pneumatic control valve. Check that the sawing wire is installed for the correct direction of travel. Finally, the wire may...
