Overview

This document describes a portable air conditioner, likely from the brand Hiyasu, based on the provided manual pages. The manual covers safety rules, parts, accessories, operation, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Function Description

The device is a portable air conditioner designed for cooling, dehumidifying, heating (on models with this feature), and fan-only operation. It is intended for indoor use and provides a flexible solution for climate control in various settings.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Operating Temperature Range:
    • Dehumidifying: 13°C - 30°C
    • Cooling: 17°C - 30°C
    • Heating: 17°C - 30°C
  • Power Supply: AC 220-240V~50Hz.
  • System Impedance: The air conditioner can only be connected to a supply with system impedance no more than 0.4582 ohm. Users are advised to consult their supply authority for system impedance information if necessary.
  • Duct Length: The flexible exhaust hose can be compressed or extended between 500 mm and 2000 mm. It is recommended to keep the duct length to a minimum for optimal performance.
  • Window Slider Kit:
    • Minimum opening: 67.5 cm (2.22ft)
    • Maximum opening: 123 cm (4.04ft)
  • Clearance: A minimum clearance of 30 cm from walls or other obstacles is required for proper air circulation.

Usage Features

General Operation:

  • Power Button: Turns the unit ON/OFF.
  • Selection Button (MODE): Allows selection of operation modes: COOL, DEHUMIFY, HEAT (if available), and FAN.
  • Fan Speed Button: Adjusts fan speed to HIGH, MED, or LOW in COOL and FAN modes. In HEAT mode, it offers HIGH or LOW. In DEHUMIFY mode, the speed is fixed.
  • Temperature Setting Buttons (UP/DOWN): Sets the desired room temperature. Temperature is not displayed in FAN and DRY modes.
  • Louver Button (SWING): Activates automatic vertical grille movement to control airflow direction.
  • Timer ON/OFF Button: Programs the unit to turn ON or OFF automatically at specified times (0-24 hours). Both TIMER ON and TIMER OFF can be set simultaneously. Pressing the ON/OFF button cancels the auto-timed program.

Specific Operation Modes:

  • Cooling Operation: Select "COOL" mode, set desired temperature (17°C-30°C), and choose fan speed (High - Med - Low).
  • Dehumidifying Operation: Select "DRY" mode. The fan runs at a fixed speed. Keep windows and doors closed for best dehumidification. Do not connect the exhaust duct to a window in this mode.
  • Heating Operation (for models with this feature): Select "HEAT" mode, set desired temperature (17°C-30°C), and choose fan speed (High - Med - Low). Note that the MED fan speed in heating is the same as HIGH fan speed in cooling. Do not connect the exhaust duct to a window in this mode.
  • Fan Operation: Select "FAN" mode and choose fan speed (High - Med - Low). Do not connect the exhaust duct to a window in this mode.

Installation:

  • Location: Install on a flat, spacious surface with at least 30 cm clearance from walls. Ensure the plug is accessible.
  • Exhaust Hose: The flexible exhaust hose and adjustable window slider kit are required for COOLING MODE.
    • Temporary Duct Mounting: Attach one end of the duct to the unit's exhaust air outlet and the other end to Adaptor B, then place it in a nearby window.
    • Permanent Duct Mounting: Attach one end of the duct to the unit's exhaust air outlet. Install Adaptor A onto the wall using wall plugs and screws, then attach the other end of the duct to Adaptor A. Cover the hole with the adaptor cap when not in use.
  • Water Tank: Ensure the drain tank is correctly positioned inside the cabinet for the unit to operate.
  • Power Connection: Plug the unit into a 220-240V~50Hz grounded electrical outlet. Avoid connecting to multiple socket outlets used by other appliances.

Safety Features:

  • Water Full Indicator: Flashes continuously, and the charactron tube displays "PI" when the drain tank is full. Dehumidification stops, but the fan motor continues.
  • Water Tank Safety Feature: A full safe switch mechanism prevents the unit from condensing water if the tank is displaced or full. The WATER FULL indicator light flashes red continuously until the tank is correctly positioned and/or emptied.
  • Automatic Overheat Protection: If the air outlet temperature exceeds 75°C, the device will stop.

Troubleshooting:

  • Unit Not Starting:
    • If the water full indicator blinks, the water tank is full. Dump the water.
    • If the green lamp does not light, wait three minutes after switching off.
  • Power Shut Off in Heating Mode:
    • If room temperature is higher than the set temperature, reset the temperature.
    • If room temperature is lower than the set temperature (in cooling mode), reset the temperature.
    • If the automatic overheat protection function is activated, switch on again after the unit has cooled down.
  • Noisy or Vibration: Place the unit on a flat, level ground.
  • Gurgling Sound: This is normal and comes from the flowing of refrigerant.

Maintenance Features

Important Safety Precautions:

  • Always unplug the unit before cleaning or servicing.
  • Do not use gasoline, thinner, or other chemicals.
  • Do not wash the unit directly with water or a hose to avoid damaging electrical components.
  • If the power cord is damaged, it must be repaired by the manufacturer or its agency.

Cleaning Procedures:

  • Air Filter:
    • Clean at least once every two weeks to prevent poor fan operation due to dust.
    • Removal: Pull out the filter cover and remove the air filter.
    • Cleaning: Immerse gently in warm water (about 40°C) with a neutral detergent. Rinse and dry in a shady place.
    • Mounting: Attach the air filter to the filter cover using the hooks, then put the filter cover back onto the unit.
  • Unit Enclosure:
    • Use a lint-free cloth soaked with neutral detergent.
    • Finish by wiping with a dry clean cloth.
  • Drain Tank:
    • Wash the tank using warm water (about 40°C) with neutral detergent.
    • Rinse and dry in a cool place. Replace the tank only after it is completely dry.
  • Continuous Drainage:
    • Drain water can be collected externally by directing a plastic tube from the drain tank cabin to a vessel (e.g., a bucket).
    • Remove the plastic tube cap before operating in continuous drainage mode.
    • Do not remove the water tank during continuous drainage.
