8. Practical use
Switch the main switch to the "Ein" (on) positi-
on, see Fig. 9. Turn the operating switch to mo-
ve the lift in the direction indicated by the ar-
rows. On release of the operating switch it re-
turns automatically to the "off" position.
Before lifting or lowering a vehicle check that nobo-
dy is in danger, that nothing is leaning against the
vehicle and no obstacles are underneath.
To lift a vehicle safely, the vehicle may only be lifted
by the jacking points recommended by the vehicle
manufacturer. After raising the vehicle a few inches
check the vehicle for safe accommodation.
With some vehicles higher lifting points are needed.
To this end we offer optional accessories. Details
are available from your HOFMANN dealer.
The total vehicle weight may not exceed the rated
load capacity of the lift (3000 kg).
Only original HOFMANN accessories may be used
as load supporting devices (type tested parts).
Wooden blocks or other devices for load lifting are
not permitted.
It is advisable to drive the vehicle on so that the
centre of gravity is between the columns.
Take care when removing heavy components from
the vehicle; if the centre of gravity is displaced to
outside the permitted tolerances the vehicle may
drop.
The lift is designed only as a vehicle lift; it should
not be used for any other purposes.
The use of the lift for lifting car parts, for example
the engine when removed etc. is not allowed.
The arms have automatic arm locks which prevent
the arms from swinging at a height of 250 mm when
the lift is raised; they are released at the same
height when lowering.
Should you require movement of the lifting arms
above the automatic locking point, a manual overri-
de kit is available, ref.: 1953091.
Only authorised persons are allowed to use the lift!
Persons under the age of 18 are not permitted to
operate the lift without supervision.
No person is allowed to ride on the lift or in the ve-
hicle. See the operating instructions label on the lift
and Health and Safety at Work Regulations VBG 14
§ 4 para. 5, 6 and 7 and § 47.
