This document describes the hOme™ Dehumidifier, available in 40 and 50 Pint models (HME020279N and HME020371N). This appliance is designed to remove excess moisture from the air in indoor environments, helping to maintain optimal humidity levels between 40% and 60% relative humidity for well-being and home preservation. It is particularly useful in areas with excessive moisture such as basements, laundry rooms, bathrooms, and kitchens, and can help prevent moisture damage, mold, mildew, and bacteria growth.
Function Description:
The dehumidifier operates by drawing in moist air, passing it over evaporator coils where water vapor condenses into liquid, and then expelling warmer, drier air back into the room. When frost builds up on the evaporator coils, the compressor will cycle off, and the fan will continue to run until the frost disappears, after which the unit automatically restarts dehumidifying. The unit features a control panel for setting desired humidity levels, fan speeds, and timer functions. It can operate continuously or stop when a set humidity level is reached or the water bucket is full.
Important Technical Specifications:
- Models: HME020279N (40 Pint) and HME020371N (50 Pint).
- Rated Voltage/Frequency: 115V~ 60Hz.
- Operating Condition: 41°F~90°F / 30%RH ~ 90%RH.
- Refrigerant: R410A, R134a, R290 (complies with European ecological standards). The system is hermetically sealed and contains fluorinated greenhouse gases.
- GWP (Global Warming Potential): R410A: 2088, R134a: 1430, R290: 3.
- Installation: Requires placement on a sturdy, level floor capable of supporting up to 110lbs. A minimum distance of 18 inches around and above the unit is recommended for efficient operation. Intended for indoor use only, in areas where the temperature will not fall below 41°F.
- Power Cord: Equipped with a three-pronged grounded plug. The plug must be inserted into a properly installed and earthed socket in accordance with national electrical codes.
Usage Features:
- Control Panel: Includes buttons for On/Off, Timer, Increase/Decrease humidity, Fan Speed (Turbo), Filter Reset, and Pump. Indicators show Clean Filter, Turbo, Lock, Timer, Full Bucket, Continuous operation, and Pump status.
- Humidity Control: Adjustable range from 35%RH to 80%RH. The unit will stop running when ambient humidity is lower than the set humidity. A continuous mode ("CO") allows the unit to run non-stop.
- Fan Speed: "Turbo" button allows selection between high and low fan speeds.
- Timer Function: Can be programmed to delay start-up or shut-down for 0.5 to 24 hours, optimizing energy use.
- Child-Lock: Pressing and holding the TIMER button for 3 seconds locks the control panel to prevent accidental setting changes.
- Water Removal:
- Bucket Operation: Water collects in an internal bucket. When the bucket is full, the unit beeps, the "Full BUCKET" indicator flashes, the compressor shuts off, and the fan stops after a few minutes. The unit will not resume operation until the bucket is emptied and correctly re-inserted.
- Continuous Drain: The unit can be set up for continuous drainage using a garden hose (outer diameter 1.0625 inches, pitch 11.5 TPI) connected to a drain hole at the back of the unit. This allows for uninterrupted operation without needing to empty the bucket.
- Pump Drain (Pump Model Only): For pump models, a pump drain pipe (approximately 5m or 16.4 feet) can be connected to allow drainage up to 16.4 feet in height. The PUMP button activates this function. Note that an internal tank must fill before water starts draining via the pump.
- Automatic Defrost: Prevents frost buildup on evaporator coils, ensuring continuous operation in cooler conditions.
- Accessories: Includes casters (may be pre-installed), a pump drain connector, and a pump drain pipe (for pump models).
Maintenance Features:
- Cleaning the Cabinet: Wipe with a slightly damp cloth and dry. Do not use water, petrol, alcohol, solvents, or insecticide liquids.
- Cleaning the Bucket: Clean every two weeks with a mild detergent to prevent mold, mildew, and bacteria growth. Ensure the bucket is completely dry before re-inserting.
- Cleaning the Filter: The air intake filter should be cleaned weekly for efficient operation. The "Clean" indicator lights up after 250 hours of use. Remove dust with a vacuum cleaner or wash with warm water (not exceeding 104°F) if very dirty. Allow to dry completely before re-installing. Press the FILTER button to reset the indicator. Do not operate the appliance without the filter.
- End of Season Operations: Unplug, empty the bucket, remove the drain cap, drain all remaining water, clean and dry the filter, cover the appliance, and store it upright in a dry location.
- Start of Season Checks: Verify the power cable and plug are undamaged and the earth system is efficient.
